View Full Version : They've lowered the textures?

I just read a small preview in a magazine where they had tried out a small demo of the game.
And apparently the game is having frame rate problems on the X-Box, so they've lowered the textures of the game to deal with that.

The big question then is!
Have they done the same with the PC version?

No-ones really sure whats happening at the moment. The 360 version might have gotten lower res textures, is there anyway you can post scans? Its happened in a few games now, lowering the textures slightly to increase ramerate.

And about the PC version, apparently Ubi have said they never announced a PC version, so... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

I'd imagine they'd have to lower textures for ps3 aswell if not more than for the 360 owing to sony's strangely designed GPU, with far less bandwidth than the 360's and less performance in certain areas.

The magazine I got is in Norwegian, so it wouldn't be much help to the rest of the world.

But I noticed that the Norwegian Ubisoft site has Assassin's Creed listed for both PC and PS3.

Plus, tothegame.com has a picture of the cover for both the PC and PS3 version.

So my guess is that it's coming for both.
But maybe these two versions are a little bit behind on development?

what?

who said that they were behind in developement? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

the PC, maybe, because of the rumours of delay and stuff...

but you can't assume that the PS3 version is behind. and dont say, "why then were the demoes on the 360? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif". well my guess is because the PS3 version is too good that they wanna keep it a surprise! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif

Anyway, if Ubi doesn't release a PC version of Assassin's Creed, I'll never buy anything which has any relation to Ubisoft!

The two versions I was talking about was the PC and PS3.
And regarding delays is just a guess from my point of view, since they haven't made an official statement yet...

The PC will almost definetly have different texture versions - the ones that will be used will depend on the hardware.

Well that'll sure encourage them to release games on the PC http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif Doing that will only deprive you from a bunch of brilliant games...

I wouldn't be suprised if the textures are lowered, as the deviantart link that's been posted shows some really detailed stuff, and we never saw those 150 characters on screen at once during the demos. Perhaps they were having slowdown.

I can confirm what TheRog is saying that the Nordic game magazine Gamereactor had a hands-on preview of the game which they said was pretty lousy. It was supposed to be laggy, combat sucked and the freedom you were promised were not so free since you always had a feeling of being guided to your objectives. They concluded with Assassin's Creed possibly being the flop of the year.

Ubisoft said that it's easier to script for the
Xbox 360 because of some threading stuff I don't understand... this however, does not mean that the ai will infact be better on the Xbox, just easier to develope for!
