View Full Version : Has this theory already been thought of? *SPOILERS*

I'm new here so I don't know if this theory has been passed around yet..
But I'm quite sure that the game is based around the fact that the human race did NOT originate on Earth, but in fact Mars.. to serve as slaves for a much more advanced civilization
There's still a lot of the plot missing, but from what I've seen from AC2 I'm quite sure that this theory is correct..

I put a spoiler tag just in case people haven't finished AC2
But this is from the infamous eden video
http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u39/bgnhmj/mons.jpg

It has an uncanny resemblance to Olympus Mons
The largest volcanic mountain known in the solar system

EDIT:
Let me elaborate more, since I can't help but pursue this even more, and would love everyone's input

AC Brotherhood
The Truth - Subject 16
"..it is far.. later than you know" - the human race is older than what people believe
"..too late to save them.." "..everything you hope to become, everything you hold dear.. it's already gone.." - the human race originated in Mars created by martian-humans to act as slaves, but the sun caused problems (a gigantic solar flare) which forced the very advanced humans to plant seeds on Earth.. the same problems with the sun might endanger Earth.. Earth is doomed to suffer the same fate as the martian-humans
"..in eden.. find Eve.." "..the key.. her DNA.." - I still don't know what this really means but I believe that 16 found out that what the martian-humans really want is for Desmond to somehow escape the inevitable destruction of Earth and start a new civilization with Eve..
"..the sun... your son.." - perfectly fits in with what I've thought of so far.. the condition of the sun harming Earth, and Desmond's child with Eve being humanity's only hope.. an in turn, the martian-human's only hope for survival as well, since we carry their DNA.. my guess is that Eve's genetic code is much closer to the martian-humans than Desmond's

AC2
Ending - Minerva
"you are gods..."
"ahahaha.. no, not gods, we simply came.. before" - again, this supports a much more advanced martian-human civilization which created us in their image (genetically cloned) - however, we don't have the "6th sense" they posses
"even when you walked the world your kind struggled to understand our existence.. we were more advanced in time" - they were much more evolved as a species and much more technologically advanced
Minerva's warning:
"When we were still flesh, our home still whole, your kind betrayed us... we, who made you.. we, who gave you life.. we were strong, but you.. were many, and both of us craved war.. so busy were we with earthly concerns we failed to notice the heavens, and by the time we did.. the world burned"

*Then again I could be completely wrong http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
but it was something worth sharing

No I think you are the first to come up with that theory.

Can't see it myself.

I have my own theories regarding the end of the Truth in brotherhood(find them in the thread The Truth payoff).

On topic, though, do you have a picture of this mount olympus? I'm assuming that mountain is where you get the idea of Mars from. But then, why would Minerva use the phrase "earthly concerns"? If she was just turning a phrase, why not say "worldly concerns"?

As for the term "earthly concerns", she's referring to things that are earth-bound (planet bound, not Earth bound. Like soil=earth), meaning they were paying attention that what was happening on their planet, not what was happening in the skies.

I love this theory by the way. It has potential.

If i'm honest, I don't see how you can come to the conclusion that they are from anywhere but Earth. The mountain in that picture more closely resembles Mt. Kilimanjaro (which supposedly resides near the location of the original "garden of Eden") than Olympus Mons.

Minerva's comments strognly suggest that, whilst technologically advanced, the First Civilisation were not particularly active in the fields of space travel, or even space, for that matter, making the possibility of their bringing Humans over from mars highly unlikely. You also have to consider that there is no evidence Mars has ever been capable of supporting life, whiilst their is a mountain of evidence against it.

Also, the final ACII glyph strongly suggests that humanity was created by the First Civilisation through forced, directed evolution of a primate species, which explains why there is no "missing link". In fact, Abstergo had to create fake skeletons in order to account for this.
