I see posts on skinning F-86s for IL-2 46, but haven't seen an "announcement" about it anywhere. Maybe I'm just missing it. Anyway, is there one now, and if so, how can I get this sweet piece of aeronautic history? Thx!

It's a mod made by the community, not 1C.

Have a look at the screenshot thread.
There are some pictures of a F86 and Mig15 that are currently being devloped for an IL2 mod.

IF you have MS Flightsim 9 OR FSX you can get a beautiful F-86 for that.... Am I allowed to post a link for that game? I will if there is no objection. I am also thinking that the aircraft could be used with CFS2 or CFS3? Haven't tried that as I don't have them installed anymore due to time restraints.

We have no problems with posting images from other sims.

OK, fair enough, Hows this?

http://sectionf8.com/files/Screenshots/External/ex14.jpg

http://sectionf8.com/files/Screenshots/External/ex10.jpg

so... if anyone wants the webpage, OR a link to the video (Highly recommended) Just PM me.

Yeah... I know you can't shoot anything down with it in a Civilian sim http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif BUT, it does say:

"Working guns with muzzle flash and tracer bullets effects"

I have not read the manual that comes with it to see how that works. But the graphics of it knocks the socks off what your used too. I had also downloaded the Mig Mad Marine that John Glenn flew in Korea.

OH... it's a FREE MS aircraft too NOT payware!

Outstanding looking model. Maybe the best I've seen of any sim. But not being able to shoot your opponent down.....

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif Think of it as we're in "todays" world/time and your flying a "restored" warbird rather than flying in combat http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif This is really an incredible Flightsim model. You can even hear the Oxygen valve working when flying over certain altitude! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

I used to fly online with a friend of mine using CFS and we got an idea of trying FS one night. So, we gave it a try flying FS, and he said "Wheres the guns" and "Now what do we do"? After that... we only flew CFS online and never flew FS again online. Long time ago... CFS1.

Well, that's a great way to look at it.

Maybe we'll see a new sim called AirShow® where you get points for scaring the bejesus out of the crowd.

Not really. To be completely accurate, there's a YP-80 that looks like an F-86. (the flight model is not done for it yet, so it's using the YP-80's)

I see in your sig that your "restored" Zero flying at an airshow already has his "SMOKE ON". http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Not really, primarily because CFS-3 uses a different format for models and textures than other versions of FS/CFS. Porting into CFS-2 might be possible, considering that CFS-2 planes can be ported into FS9, but the flight model would probably be screwy. However, just getting the F-86 into a version of CFS won't automatically give it weapons...plus you'd completely lose the interactive virtual cockpit of the FS9 version.

My opinion is that the Korean War mod for Strike Fighters/ Wings Over Vietnam currently offers the best combat version of the Sabre, although I admittedly haven't looked for the IL-2 1946 mod. The 'Section F8' model for FS9 (shown above) is a very good civilian flight sim version--definitely the best I've tried--and certainly rivals most contemporary payware.

Interesting... I remember a LOOOONNNGGG time ago, that we used to take aircraft from CFS and put them into flightsim (Maybe 98 or 2000 I forget now) and they would fly fine. Also, in reverse. Funny to take a Cessna and fly it in CFS as the game gave it "generic" guns. I don't own CFS3... I thought I had bought it... but can't find it now, but I do have CFS2 and have not tried to swap aircraft for a long time. Thanks for the info!

Also, I have not heard of "Strike Fighters" either...

But if I'm going to fly a war plane, I want to do it in a war sim where it has guns and enemy planes for crying out loud!!

If you are going to fly a jet in a civilian sim, there are plenty of civilian modeled aircraft to fly like Lear jets and Citations. Who needs a Sabre in FSX? Better that person use their talent and model it for a sim that has gun capability. It's a waste in my opinion and I have a right to my opinion.
