Well instead of getting TrackIR i decided to get out the old webcam and install free look, although i cannot find any manuals that specify how to use it properly, so i was wondering if someone here that uses Freelook, can they give me a few pointers on how to set it up.

Thanks<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

"It's funny that all these guys with engineering degrees rely so much on their charts and graphs to fly. When they get in the plane, they are lucky to fly straight and level. Get a real pilot in there, one that flies by the seat of their pants and he will make it do things that the 'brains' are still denying."

I have a bright red LED mounted on the end of a small rod, taped to the top of my earphones. So I don't need to wear any stupid hat http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

LED is powered from one of the keyboard lights (AFAIK the otherwise useless ScrollLock).

After starting up Freelook, I press 'c' for camera settings and with a few mouse clicks,I set the camera to B&W, decrease gamma, increase frame rate to 30 FPS, and increase sensitivity to a level, where I can only see a solid white dot travelling across the control screen. Then I minimize the control screen and off I go into combat! The good thing is that you can also activate Freelook after IL-2 is up and running.

I can dig up my config file for you, if you are interested. I know I had to increase the amount of simulated mouse movement travel, to be able to see behind my tail. I also have the re-centering button on my stick - while TrackIR can tell IL-2 about the absolute position of your view, Freelook will only tell IL-2 about relative moves. So opening the map in IL2 will certainly de-center your view, and same story with FOV changes and view movement at the same time. Therefore re-centering is needed very often, but it comes as second nature after a while.

TrackIR is for the rich guys with plenty of money to spare http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
