D*mn I missed the first part.

Sacrilige that 'Stalingrad' only reached number 58. I think thats because its vioted for by the public. Not many will have seen a German film with overdubs or subtitles. If it had been constructed by film critics, Stalingrad would surely be top 10.

The director says he got a lot of pressure from his American ditribution company to have the final two soldiers rescued at the end in order to have a happy ending, but he absolutely insisted they should die in the snow. I think it was definitely the right decision.

Saving Private Ryan on 1?? Oh Pe-lease!!

I liked it the first time I saw it and maybe the second time, but now all the Holywood drama stuff is getting annoying.

Sorry for the spoiler, but its not really that bad IMO. We all know the story of Stalingrad and its how the story develops thats interesting.

Trust me, knowing they die at the end will not spoil your enjoyment of the film. They could just as easily have been rescued, it wouldnt make it less enjoyable as a whole film, it would just be a worse ending! (hope that makes sense)

The top 100 is voted for by the public. I guess it was inevitable that well known blockbusters would be ruling hte top 10.

I actually like SPR. The action is very well done and the story interesting.

Its certainly a long way above 'Flyboys' in the writing.

SPR was a good movie first time I saw it. Don't like it anymore though, definatly not worthy of 1.

This is why the general public should not be allowed to vote......... on anything.

Doctor Strangelove is NOT a War film http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif It is a satire. Gladiator is not a war film either. Cripes. The Battle of Britian ranks lower than Where Eagles Dare??

Quite the poor list, unfortunately. Braveheart before Das Boot...

SPR a typical Hollywood drama? Somebody is a touch jaded, eh? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
