View Full Version : I don't understand why the patch cannot be discussed here?

In the tread at SimHQ, Oleg even thanked those who participated in the thread.

"Thanks guys!
Ian sent me long lists of all your suggestions and we are very grateful for your help!

Oleg."

Yeah, and did you see what happened over in the Ready Room? Somebody tried to start a thread in there, doing exactly the same thing that they're doing at SimHQ - having beta users report bugs - and Maddox showed up and gave them hell for it!

Not even a polite, "Guys, I appreciate what you're trying to do, but please don't do it in here because I'm kind of touchy about that leak business." Just an angry rant about the leak, and then a little later cartrix locked the thread.

And this is all entirely typical of the double (or multiple) standard that has obtained for a long time. That the people on the Russian forums get more information than we do is understandable; after all, Maddox is Russian and no doubt more comfortable in his native language. But remember the times when information was given out at SimHQ before it appeared in here? And now this. Start a thread to discuss the beta at SimHQ and you get thanked; do it in here (assuming you can get this damn thing to work long enough to post anything at all) and you get shot down.

Ubi seems to be on some sort of campaign to see how totally they can alienate the regular users of this forum. And by now they're well on their way to a rousing success.

As for Oleg Maddox, I've got the most profound respect for him as a designer and even in a sense a creative artist. As a person, based on the attitude and behavior he's exhibited in these forums - I haven't said this before, but I have to now: Maddox, you're a genius but you're a jerk.

From everything I'm reading about pirated software,no one in russia buys legit anyway. So why bother about people with illegal copies.I'd really like to see #'s based on country of sale.He shouldn't be raving in the forums more than likely it was an employee that leaked it.

maybe its because oleg is lambasted fried and fricasied on the ubi forums. ive never seen so much hate thrown at a game designer since JAS came out. everyone always whines about patches and talking non stop smack when oleg already knows the game works perfect online.FB doesnt need to be patched. IT WORKS.some things could be more accurate but thats true of every flight sim. this game has ten times the handholding from the designer of any previous flight sim and all oleg gets is slammed in the face every time he turns around. no wonder hes biased. get bit by a dog enough times and youll avoid certain neighborhoods too.

Actually, it's because these forums are the UBI forums, not a 3rd party forum, nor a 1C:Maddox forum.

The leaking of the patch is probably due to a violation of trust somewhere, and while I don't think they'll expect to track the person down and bring charges against him or something, it is highly probable that the specifics about the patch, is still a protected material not to be disclosed and discussed.

People discussing specifics about product updates that aren't out yet, would be viewed as breach of internal informations - UBI probably urges the moderators to block all open discussions about the patch which may reveal information about it.

Ofcourse, that would also mean that UBI would try to contact SimHQ and request the information be withheld until release.. but I'm not sure if there's anything between SimHQ and UBI. Just a speculation.

Heu, it doesn't matter where it was actually conceived.

All that matters in the cold, dull world of business laws, is who has got the rights to it. In the case of UBI, the exclusive rights to distribute the products and their potential upgrades, is what they care about.

They wouldn't give a rat's a$$ even if it was Saddam Hussein who developed this game, as long as the distribution rights remain exclusive and intact, and they can make money from it.

Since we're not talking about the leaked beta patch, no reason for this thread to be locked, at all. (Well, it may hit someone's nerve upstairs..)

Agreed, poeple are putting a little to much into a flight sim, and a great one that is, in my opinion nothing needs to be fixed, it's already THE best sim around.

People tend to complain when their favourite, it be the P-51, FW190, BF109 or Il-2 doesn't comply to their ideas of the specific aircraft.

But in the end we all know that the Great Mother Russia produced the finest aircrafts of them all, making even the puny P-51, produced by the capitalistic and emperialistic US, inferior.

The only reason for the russian planes being undermodelled in FB is no to scare the capitalistic customers away..

So I'd say: We want the Russian planes undermodelling corrected!!!!!
