HOTAS (Hands On Throttle And Stick) is a controller that allows you to not have to remove your hands from the controllers to use any functions. If you're referring to the HOTAS programming in the game, then you can use them (provided you have the proper controllers) or you can program each function in the regular screen.

hmm,

so I have to have two sticks (or ruder + throtle + stick)?
to properly use HOTAS??

on my stick I have throtle + ruder on it,
so how could I benefit from HOTAS ?

....it drives me nuts ...when I cant understand such easy task...

it would help me if someone could explane how does it use HOTAS in his setup, includig which stick, ruder, throtle
is using ....

tnx.

you just need one stick to setup the HOTAS. the HOTAS is the place in the control options menu where you setup the functions for your stick, just like with any other game, its the configuration area. you can bind buttons on your stick for throttle, flaps, rudder, power, etc.....thats about it.

so HOTAS is just another sections of controls options where you set the most important controls for the stick/dogfight ... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif wright?

so that I can put trim on lets say my coolie hat (english is my second language by the way /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif )

and that's all about it?

A true HOTAS controller has many more buttons and much more controllability than a standard Joystick with throttle rocker. You can certainly program your stick in the HOTAS screen, but you won't gain anymore than if you program it in the upper portion of the control screen. The typical "Standards" in the flught-sim community are these three (listed in no specific order):

1. CH products (Fighterstick, pro throttle, pro pedals)
2. Thrustmaster Cougar
3. Saitek X45

These are the best out there and each offers a slight variation on a theme. The Thrustmaster is the most expensive and has an almost cult following. The CH is considered to be the most reliable and rugged (out of the box that is) and only slightly cheaper than the Cougar. The Saitek is considered the best value at almost 1/3 the cost of either of the other two.

Do a google and you can see lots of info on each of these.

Hope this helps.
