I was goofin around and decided to do a best of seven between these two BBS. The pics are not great quality but I have to still get in the config file to tweak.

Doesn't look beamy enough to be Yamato. I thought she wasn't in the game, anyway. Bigger pic, please.

You are right my bad http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif What happened to the "BB" Models they were suppose to have? They are all Genric BBs in PF

Modeled ships for US were told to BE:

Arizona Class and Dakota class..What happened it is Generic class now

FWIW, given the virtually instant sink time, and X torps and you're sunk ship DM, I doubt PF will be a good "sim" of this kind of fight anyway.

That's not the Yamato. I saw this post earlier but it was deleted by the author. In that post, the pics were larger, and you could clearly see that the supposed Yamato was just a "Generic Japanese BB" which is shaped like the King George V, and I believe Oleg of the PF programmers would have used the stats of say, the Kongo rather than the Yamato to represent a generic Japanese BB. The logic behind it? Take a look at the following diagrams:

KING GEORGE V
http://users.swing.be/silh.silh/silh/noir/202702.gif

KONGO
http://users.swing.be/silh.silh/silh/noir/202817.gif

YAMATO
http://users.swing.be/silh.silh/silh/noir/202906.gif

As you can see, the general profile of the KG5 matches that of the Kongo rather than the Yamato, and thus it is logical to assume that since the damage modelling would have to follow the 3D-model of the ship, the designers would have opted to follow a Kongo template when designing a "Generic Japanese BB" rather than follow a Yamato template.

Thus, I therefore conclude that those pics posted in the thread above is more like "TIRPITZ vs. KONGO" or better yet, "TIRPITZ vs. KING GEORGE V" http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

And at the bottom of the page I put

"Please note: This was done as a best of seven battle. Tirpitz won 5-2. There is no scientific basis to this just pure and simple FUN!!!"

LOL Good thing I covered my tracks LOL

Hi Amer82nd, can you please give us the mission and/or the (n)track of this nice warship battle. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

No Mission I just threw something together in the Mission Builder. They were within visible limits of each other w/ naked eye. I know not very far apart but hey What can I say http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Not that PF remotely simulates this properly, but a short range contest is what the Bismark was designed for given low visibility in the north atlantic. Turns out Yamato would do better close than far as well, which is why even the SoDak would eat her for lunch with radar gun-laying at range.
