That nose gunner that's where LeadSpitter got his old fist pumping avatar. I miss it too!

Yup, no one told the nose gunner "we're leaving now"

Cool car, wanted one of those in the worse way...back in '76!

Those are paratroopers, they are supposed to jump from the airplane.

Hawgdog
10-26-2003, 09:23 PM
LOL, yeah, but they are supposed to wait until they arrive

The way I fly that thing, they are jumping before I get to the end of the runway!

Haha! I love the TB-3!

It is by far my favorite plane to mess around in in IL-2.

ESPECIALLY is servers where the plane set is TB-3, Brewster, P-11c, and P-40.

Because then you are immortal!! Have you ever shot a TB-3 down with only machine guns? you lite it on fire and the AI bails, but you can't do fatal damage! With the fire extinguishers, you are completely imortal!

Heh, in QMB I was flying one around, I landed, turned engine one and engine four off, and took off using only two engines! so, no matter how they shoot at your motors, they cannot stop you! The only ways I've been killed in those type servers are rockets from P-40 feild mod, kamikazi attacks, player kills (not much protection in a convertable), and my own thousand-kilo bombs going off to close below me. Ha, on one occassion all four of my engines had been set on fire three times each, on average, and they were all still giving me about 60% of optimal power, so I still flew home and scored and RTB.

TB-3 is the single most durable plane in Forgotten Battles.

I'm working out some of the bugs in the SERVER side of the dedicated server. I think my router is acting up.
A map I just finished is a summer online map, lots of old targets, the only plane sets are the true open cockpit planes. TB, P.11,I-16, I-153. Same planes for both sides with unbelievable ground targets, castles created bridges over the water, Biplanes as ground targets, Junkers with pontoons fueling by the bridges etc
love those pilot kill planes

I've made a Tb explode by using a tiny burst of P40 .50 /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Arm-slinger: You must have hit a bomb or something.

I've flown an I-153 behind one and poured all four MG's of pain into a one wing . . for a really long time with no serious damage. It was a freindly TB-3 (didn't care to have it shooting back at me), so I could just float behind it (tough to do, slow as it flies). With enemy ones, I prefer to zoom by it as fast as possible. Which isn't very fast in an I-153 or a P-11c.

Only possible way is to hit the bombs or to strafe the pilots from above (at the speed that beast flies, it should be classified as "strafing")

Yah, unless you are flying the P-11c, at which point it becomes 'dogfighting.'

sorry for the double, but couldn't find an 'edit' button. Maybe I just missed it. I don't really care.

Anywho, here is a ti for TB-3 flying: You can outturn ANY plane in the game. It takes forever to roll to 90 degrees, but once you get there, and pull the wheel all the way back, nothing can follow you in such a turn.

But then, you are going so slow most people are just strafing you so the turn won't help much. Its still fun.

A quick way to get a whole lotta kills is to load up on a few thousand-kilo bombs, and fly REALLY low. wait until you attact a few enemy fighters, and wait until they pass real close to you after a strafing run. Drop the bombs so they explode as close to the enemy fighters as possible. It will kill you, but you will get some kills out of the bargain as well. I once was attacking an airfeild in multiplay with a TB-3, I destroyed three parked aircraft and two attacking aircraft. It was one of the highlights of my FB career.

I did the same once, only with a few seconds delay on the bombs, blowing him to pieces along with my groundtarget and returned home, that was online..

I only fly it online at Greatergreen sometimes. Hehe - I use to sit & hide in the bombardier position while the whole crew gets wasted by flak & enemy fighters - then drop those 1000kgs on an airfield to score some kills. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

Hiding in the bombadier bay? You know just last night it seemed if I was in a different position (other than pilot) after a heavy attack I could bounce up to pilot and come home unhurt even tho I lost some crew..bug? Nevertheless, I'll be hiding in the map room from now on out/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif !
