Hi all,

Just been reading a book by Luftwaffe fighter pilot Hauptmann Helmut Lipfert regarding his exploits on the East Front.

He scored 203 aerial victories against Russian aircraft and flew with Hartmann.

His accounts of flying over a featureless white landscape in a 109,trying to navigate home with a damaged engine and hoping that he is not downed by a lucky shot from the ground have similarities with il2 http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

He speaks highly of his Russian opponants as regards both their ability and aircraft.

Just bought that book and am halfway through it.
Not bad description of his aerial kills and well worth buying, though not a rollicking "boys own" as "The Big Show". It is more a history of the retreat in the Crimea and recounts his victories and close encounters.

There's a campaign mission pack available for this on Mission 4 Today IIRC. Forget who the mission author's name is, but not too bad at all.
