Yeah, I must say that the one of the binoculars sounds me very familiar, but, it was in the thread in the german forums, so I thought it was new.

Good recon mission. Thanks...

Great news about the Revell and UBI getting together. Maybe if UBI laser scann a real model then it would be faster and accurate to have a real model translate into SHIII as a digital model. I'm guessing thats what they are up to. Then all you have to do is add the textures. This will all be much faster for the models to be accuratly made and scaled. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

What do you think I have been complaining about for MONTHS and MONTHS?http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v325/hauitsme/furious.gif http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v325/hauitsme/Grumble.gif But the only responses have been 'smart ***' remarks by other people(you know who you arehttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v325/hauitsme/alien.gif ) replying to my complaints!

Very nice shoots.

I noticed that the attack maps where graduated in kilometres, and I guess we will measure speed in knots. These magnitudes don€t mix very well.

I wonder how the navigational maps are graduated.

Any thoughts on this?

The only said thing is that Revel only has a Type Vllc boat in scale 1:72, and XXl in even smaller scale.
Lets wait and se what they will come up with.

Good point!

Dev Team is Romanian and, like most europeans, maybe feel more comfortable with Km.

But miles and knots are commonly used for nautical measurements, and I think that it should be better to use only them.

Agreed. Naval way is not metric. Never was.
I allways find calculations somewhat cumbersome but it is the romance that counts. I am continental but knots and miles are to be left alone. A tribute to history.

There is one thing though that complicates this a bit. The speed entered into the TDC is given in knots a.f.a.i.k. but the range IS entered in meters. So that kind of matches the map and maybe it is the best solution. I€m not yet convinced though, have to ponder this for a while.

A problem seen in uboat.net too

http://www.uboat.net/technical/torpedoes.htm

Why they show torpedo range and speed in that way?

taskforce1x1 go to screen shots of a picture of a starshell in action it is 7 lines down

the mao looks ok,
all you have to do to change km to NM is (approx)is divide the number of km by 9 and multiply by 5,
To change MN to km all you have to do is divide by 5 and multiply by 9(plus add 50meters per km),

Its not something that has to be exact, when you are looking at the map a rule of thumb should be ok.

For that in my Hardcore TDc Mod for SH2, in the TDc i modified the TDC so it has now a target speed instruments in meter/seconds, same for torpedo speed instrument.

HTDC Mod was done to made the calculation manualy, and sure you will use metric system, finaly you will obtain the target speed in m/s, and the final conversion to knots is not too much important to understand the manual calculation, finally in lasts versions I decide to avoid this last step and put instruments in m/s to save one step.

Miles and knots will be fine to navigation, but to shot i prefer to have metric system.
