I just got of a 4.07m server about 1 hour ago and not that i wanted to, so the story goes like this, i took of and i flew over i spotted a yak-1 and took a couple of shots at it, managed to break of a part of the rudder. then some dumass idiot came behind me and started taking shoots at my target and i dove on the yak and destroyed one of his wings and he crashed. then this stupid bastard started taking shots at my plane with his me-109f4, he didnt stop till i was trailing back smoke and leaking fuel. I finally managed to make it back to base and did a belly landing. I managed to get my points but as soon as i was about to take off again i was kicked from the server.

why do people play this game online of they cant tell the difference between a yak and a me-109. Aslo the icons were on to tell us if it was a good or a bad guy?

Hey, you see plenty of idiots online. That's the way it has always been!

Just grin and bear it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

*AHEM*

Not that I'm not capable of some stellar idiocy myself, mind you - heck, me and Sergei was online just the other night and we both were flying A-20s. So Sergei decided to approach me h2h AND we had just spotted a 110 flying about, too, so what I of course did was I gave him a healthy burst into the cockpit killing him instantly! But HEY, as we know the Havoc & the big Biffer DO look very much alike, do they not http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

Which just goes to show that 1) s**t happens and 2) we all are cretins in our turn. S!

PS. The story ends /w a flourish of poetic justice however, because Sergei's crate then crashed into mine killing ME instantly in turn http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I know what u mean msalama, beacause to many planes look alike so it is sometimes hard to tell the difference from far away. But still he was only about 200 meters at most behind me when he opened fire with the machine guns, and well u know the rest of the story.

Well TBH it sometimes seems to me that there're some folks online who just HAVE to kill someone, be them friends or foes! Just like those guys were some kind of wind-up monsters who cannot contain themselves anymore once they're cranked up...

OK, that might've been an exaggeration. But still, you do see some mildly-to-highly disturbed individuals playing this game every now and then, too!

Just grin and bear it is what I say again. Go verbal by all means, though, if the case deserves that. S!<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

The world wouldn't be the same without idiots.
After all, how could one appreciate good folk when he sees one if it weren't for idiots?

Therefore using healthy logic; we should be thankful to moronic population - every evil for some good...

The best you can do is to ignore these suckers online, as they aren't serious players in most cases anyway. If you get offended by FB vet (KS or sumtin'), in most cases he'll apologize to you and that is basically what separates a man from idiot online - a simple "sorry" and decent communication.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Hi Kuna! Howya doin'? What's the story behind this new nick of yours?

and that is basically what separates a man from idiot online - a simple "sorry".

Very true.

Now I'm a dedicated mudmover and fly fighters only occasionally, and usually make mistakes in them because I plainly sUXX0rZ as a fighter pilot http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_redface.gif Suffice it to say, however, that I _ALWAYS_ apologise if I screw up so that someone else ends up suffering too!

That said this abovementioned sordid chapter of aerial "warfare" between me & Sergei I wrote about was however a bit different, because I've known the man for 20yrs. or so. He's an old mate I've known loooong before IL-2 was even an indecent thought in his daddy's mind http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

But the general principle is still clear - you screw up, you apologise. S!<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Err, we had a squaddie in the 99th for a short time. This young man had the most annoying habit of shooting down other members of the squad both by accident and on purpose... when he was bored... Of course he soon left us for greener pastures...

LOL, just yesterday I was On Warclouds, flying along in my 38 (as usual) when I spot this D9 and engage we battle down from 15K ft down to about 1000ft I have him leaving a blood trial so I go in to finish him off. I hit him hard with my paintball gun in the Starboard wing and take off the end of it. as I watch him start spinning knowing he's done for and I'm getting deep across the line I break off to RTB. when out of no where comes this P-47 blazing away at my kill and he continues to shoot him until he hits the ground http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif and the thing that got me even madder was I didn't even get a Thank you for helping pad this Arsholes score. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

I did however offer to let him follow me around and steal some more of my kills if he needed the points so badly. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

then later on in that same mission. I'm following a friendly when all of the sudden I get a machine gun jammed msg. I'm like WTH???? I look around and all I see is a Spit trailing me. he doesn't look like he's shooting so I start scanning the sky thing **** I was asleep and got bounced but I see nothing, then I get the fuel leak msg so I look around again and the spit is shooting at me http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif I just don't get it. Warclouds is Axis vs Allies, with Icons to boot and I get shot by a friendly, I guess his plane recognition was a little off that day and he didn't see the second engine on my 38. after I outran him I RTB's and thank you Warclouds, he got the boot for a friendly kill. yesterday was not a good day for being an Allied pilot on Warclouds.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Yep...that sounds like flying around online. What server were you on? The better servers usually end up kicking players like that or banning them if an admin is present. Of course an admin can't be universally present so its tough that way but many servers try to enforce good play behavior and boot those who don't.

Sadly there are many who don't have any sense of that.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I shot down two Mustangs last night with a P-51 Mustang (offline) when I was practicing my bomber escorting techniques.

In my defense, they sort of looked like BF-109's and FW-190's from the distance. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Case 1, I was coming from the rear, dead center and level on altitude with him, distance around 100-150 meters. I fired a salvo of .50s into him and then I heard the friendly fire warning. His engine stopped from my hail of bullets.

Case 2, Mustang 2 was coming straight at me, head-on. Now, I thought this had to be an enemy BF-109 because it clearly wasn't a FW-190 with a radial. In the heat of battle, it might take a while for you to recognize what plane you're dealing with. Here, I thought this was a BF-109G-6.

All too often, stupid AI teammates do a head-on on you forcing you to make that split decision. I made mine. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Anyway, replayed the mission and this time I didn't have any friendly fire incidents. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Online stupidity is just like bad weather, it shows up occassionally, and you just have to tolerate it.

I do agree, when you make a mistake, you should apologize. I have made mistakes from time to time, but since I tend to fly FR most of the time, I had to learn plane recognition pretty quickly!

But, it happens all the time, most of the time by mistake, a some of the times because someone cant be bothered to verify their target, or just flat out greed.

My last friendly fire kill was caused by the other guy being a greedy point *****. I was diving on a spitfire in a 190, with my wingman trailing. I lined up this spit, who was motoring along flat level and happy (and not paying attention obviously). I gave him a solid burst, and the spit lost major parts of his plane, and was pouring black smoke. We pulled up, rolled back around and dove on him again, and just as I pulled the trigger, this greedy tool in a 109 dove right in front of me to finish off the spitfire. I got the spitfire AND the 109, and he was quite put out with me. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Of course I got kicked for a friendly kill, despite this other idiot flying through my gunfire. Stuff like that just happens.

Now, I have had some just outright examples of poor sportsmanship occur as well. We were fighting a Singapore map, subbed in for Burma, and got into a wild dogfight with Spitfires in our Ki-43's. The Oscars did up the Spits pretty well, and the guy I was on was so put out for getting shot down by a **** plane, he disconnected rather than give me the kill credit. He did it again later when he was shot down by another Oscar, and then again when I plugged his spit again. Then one of the admins kicked and banned him. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Basically, its the Internet, and people seem to think that they can act like complete and utter dillholes because nobody knows who they are. Just the nature of the net. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

What kills me is when you get accused of wrong doing.I used to fly warcouds alot and started getting pms from moderator and got kicked off for awhile.

The thing is that someone complained i was kill stealing. One time im following a spit in my own spit and he was pecking at a 109.i didnt shoot one bullet and just stayed on the spits tail for a good 2 minutes.Well the 109 cuts throttle and goes into a tight turn losing the spit. Now i get in behind the 109 and shoot him down. The other spit driver than proceeds to shoot me down.

Now thats just dumb.I never omplain when people fly over my shoulder and take my kill.Where on the same team and the enemy is killed.

Ok for a brighter and funnier story I once got picked on by two hammerheads on a server. These guys just didnt like me and were shooting me down left and right.Real dikheads.Well later that night I went back on and got into an uber plane this time and lo and behold the only two other pilots on wre these two asses.

I couldnt believe how real the next hour felt as I ridiculed these two pros and shot them down repeadtedly. They finally got sooo pissed and said I was cheating and left server.

Merry Christmas to allhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Heres a tip, get hit by friendly fire and its someone you don't know, full stick forward and kiss the ground. Make sure they get the -$$$'s, they will leave real quick to reset scores, and you can have a chuckle over it. Well worth it every time. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

So anyway, I'm climbing away from base in a Hurricane, when a friendly Hurri starts following me some 300m away. That player starts shooting at me, quite poorly, and I watch, expecting the noob to eventually realize he's shooting at a friendly.

The Hurri keeps shooting at me, and still missing completely. I helpfully tell the person, by name, that he's firing at a friendly.

The Hurri gets closer, and keeps shooting, finally pinging me with a few rounds. I kindly ask the person to stop shooting twice more.

I start to think it's not an honest noob, but just as I decide to retaliate, this guy knocks out my elevator controls. I bail out, and ask this person if he/she understands english, and explain the difference between blue and red icons.

The player finally replies, saying that he shot me because I was wearing black crosses on my Hurricane rather than roundels. In an externals/icons server with nation specific planesets.

So anyway, I TKed the jerk about 6 times before he left the server. Killing griefers is more fun than having a high score.

Don't feel bad Hawk, the first several times I got online I had a great time. But after a while I met up with some pilots who just cannot get it thru there heads that it is all in good fun. They cannot understand that mistakes will happen and can't realize that they are being handed some great times and fun on a silver platter.I went thru what you are and I let it get to me.I even went so far as to removing Hyperlobby from my computer because of a few less than mature players.I mean I got called every name in the book. You know what stinks is I am very honorable pilot but yes I made a few mistakes.I always apologize but for some that is just not good enough.A shame really,I very much enjoyed online flying but some nights a few ruin it for eveybody.I guess the best thing to do is like the others say and do your best to ignore the jerks and keep playing.
I really could write a huge article about this, there are times when a few bad apples ruin it for everybody. And as I said it is an absolute blast to fly and fight against human pilots,it is as you know a different world than offline flying.
Call me a whiner but online flights with the wrong people is a bunch of bulls@@t.I may be a noob but at least I fly with honor and dignity,I just wish some others could do the same.
Man,in the end I feel your pain.Funny,Slappedsilly just had a thread with a similar complaint, must be something to it.
All I know is I need to find a much more mature server to fly on,at 50 years old I do not need all the bullcrap-Thank you very much!
Keep at it Hawk and don't let them get you down like they did me.I have missed alot of good times because I gave up.

Sometimes your imagination can paint the picture you want to see, regardless of what your eyes are showing you. I never realised how bad this could be until I sneaked up behind a P-51, on his deep, low six in my Fw190A-8. I had taken the twin MK108s for a change, so this guy was dead meat if I got a shot. I got closer and checked: yep, there's the radiator, and he's even got a yellow nose.

Bang, thud, crunchy, mangle, mutilate. Bits and pieces flying everywhere. Say hello to Mr Mauser, Yankee.

It was a Bf109.

I had never done that before, and I haven't done it since (so far). My plane recognition is usually excellent, but that night... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/disagree.gif I swear it was a Mustang one second, and a confetti 109 the next.

Imagination is a powerful thing.

For what it's worth. I personally don't believe that the reason for playing this game on-line is for points. What you end up getting is imamature "kids" out there hungry for any opportunity that they can get to up their score and come out the hero. If they could really be killed they'd be alot more careful before going in alone, hell bent diving in on another without considering the possible consequenses.I personally fly with the attitude of what can I do to make the side I'm flying on come back to base more as a whole. In other words, fly top cover for bombers or bomb laden ground attack fighters. It seems to me there is much to much selfishness, me as apposed to us attitude to flying on-line. As a result situations like the ones mentioned above occure to often ruining the game play for others.
