View Full Version : Ju 88 varients as a/i?

Oleg said that it is likely that we will only get the A-4 as flyable.

I was wandering whether the other models (A-13, A-14, A-17, C-6) will be entirely scrapped or whether we will get them as a/i?

It would be great to have some different versions as targets etc to make missions a little more interesting (especially to fight against the heavy fighter type)

Well, out of the 7 that were submitted to 1C, I would like to see at least 3 as flyable:

1. Ju 88A-4 "early"
2. Ju 88A-17
3. Ju 88C-6a

The others, ie. A-4 "late",A-13,A-14 & C-6a "field Mod" could be subsequently made as AI with the following order of priority:

A-14
A-4 "late"
C-6a "field Mod"
A-13

My 2 cents....

Cheers,

Jagd

if the Ju88A-4 will be the only flyable version hopefully Maddox will ad torpedos as weapons !

sure, it will be not historical correct BUT, the Beaufighter Mk.21 also not carried torpedos and there are still a lot of other "wrong" loadouts in a lot of planes.............
the torpedoarmamanrt would add a lot to the gameplay http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Strongly agree!
Germans need another torpedo bomber, the He.111 has very low survival rate in late war scenarios...

Don't make too many conclusions. At least A-4 will be flyable, this is official, rest isn't.

Wait and you will see.

And btw. If they make A-4 able to carry torpedoes, I will angrily protest to Oleg.

Beaufighter may have inaccuracies, but basic A-4 was not able to carry torpedoes, thus it should not in the game. A-4 Torp has not been modelled, so no torpedoes for A-4.

If they *can't* make torpedo version, here is the list in drop down menu...

This leaves A4 as stand alone "pure" A4, but offers torpedos for historical accurate torpedo missions.

Worst historical inaccuracy is not having any way to simulate Ju~88 torpedo missions.

For early "pure" A4 missions, we don't use torpedoes. For flying missions requiring torpedoes, we can use A4 torpedoes or we use nothing (using nothing is historically false).

Like they used Yak~1 for Spit~1 before the AEP (and now they use Spit~5 for Spit~1, to the frustration of the poor Email pilots.

No. A-4 Torp and A-4 are very different both externally and internally. Very poor compromise.

Okay...then they are going to have to make Flyable the torpedo version.

I just was thinking of an old FB 1.0 bug that made IL~4 bomber grafix totally invisible except for the radio antenna and the torpedo. Maybe something like that could work for "A4" torpedo bomber. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Relax jippo, I know you are Pure Artist. But if they *can't* make real 88 torpedo version, then extra "A4" torpedo version will bring more of the world's simmers into Ju~88 cockpit (anything to get them out of the internet dogfighter cockpits).

edit ~~> Time for FB is short so A4 bomber is the best, and the most needed. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

Thankx!!!~

Most important for online play is the version with 3x20mm in the nose. I hope this will be taken into acount since we have b25 with front guns, mosquito is coming and he can shoot too as can pe2 (when it comes). I flew b25 recently a lot online and front guns are VERY important. Torpedo? Not realy important. Ai gunners are almost useles, exept if someone flies close and slow which rarely happens. To be in formation of bombers or attack tham is maybe the most interesting thing online.

We have 3x20mm in La~7 to score internet dogfight Brownie Points. We don't need Ju~88 for this. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

A4 is the most needed online, then the torpedo version. This may attract more hardcore flight simmers online. Looking at all the Silent Hunter fans here, these could make good bomber simmers/simmerettes.

I still think some of the other variants (C-6 as day train busters) and the A-13 would have a lot of appeal offline.

It is reported that the Pe-2 add-on will have all the variants. I hope this is true with the '88! Good Luck!

You dont play online obviously if you can say such stuff. Most important online is to be protected from headon attacks and expose attacker to rear gunners. Fighters avoid to attack bombers with strong front guns headon. It also feels better to be armed than not to. You have he111 with torpedos, use it if you like launching torps that much. I prefere attacking airports with live targets on it. You can play with AI ships as much you like.

Also you say "we need". What group of people are you representing? Are you official representative of online players to claim that they need a4 online most?

LEXX_Luthor

Well, when you say "online" without additional information, I naturally assume you mean 3x20mm Dogfight. Perhaps I was (choke) wrong. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Ju~88 ground attack strafer would be Aussom for Easter Front. Although we need basic bomber first. Oleg made the right decision here. We do need all Jippo~88s Flyable.

I missed this. Yes, this is very interesting, and ya I was wrong. But, I think A4 would be best for large bomber formations (I may be wrong here too).

Not to sound too facetious... but I know it's a Ju-188. It's based on the Ju-88... if we're talking about variants we might as well drop this model in here because it's related to the 88 in the same way a D9 is a 190.
