It's all ready to go!

Program Description:

This program will allow you to compare data from aircraft in Pacific Fighters side-by-side. You are not currently able to do this with the object viewer within FB.

Link to a nice picture - thanks, Netwings http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif (http://www.netwings.org/dcforum/User_files/420ed8880a206de7.gif)

Changes and New Features for the Pacific Fighters version:

<UL TYPE=SQUARE><LI>Added aircraft from Pacific Fighters to version 3.03 (January 2005). Note: Some aircraft that haven€t been released (as of February 2005) are present in the Viewer because their data was available in €œIL-2 Compare€, so their release must be imminent http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
<LI>Added a button so the €œOrdnance Description€ data can be accessed more conveniently.
<LI>Added Pacific theatre ordnance to €œOrdnance Description€ form.
<LI>Enhanced and corrected existing ordnance data and improved formatting to aid readability.
<LI>Enhanced aircraft pictures so that the image is sharper. Also changed pictures to a more compressed format to optimise program size and memory usage.
<LI>Replaced pictures of some aircraft in service in the European theatres with images more appropriate for the Pacific theatre.
<LI>Changed some pictures to improve differentiation between similar models.
<LI>Improved the formatting of data to aid readability, and fixed some typographical errors.
<LI>Switched images for MiG-3 ud and MiG-3 with 2 x 12.7 MG. These are now correct.
<LI>Added information for some aircraft which was missing from the in-game object-viewer within IL-2 FB/AEP/ Pacific Fighters.
<LI>Added manufacturer names for all aircraft where space allowed.[/list]

Many of the changes were due to user feedback, so thanks to those who offered suggestions and critiques.

Future updates should come much more quickly if and when new aircraft are added to the IL-2/FB/PF stable, because I have also written an application that automatically re-indexes the code when new records are added. Two weeks. Watch this space. Be sure.

OK, that's enough from me,
Get It Here, and enjoy! (http://www.airwarfare.com/Sims/FB/fb_essential_files.htm#014)

Thanks to Airwarfare.com for being first off the blocks. Anyone else care to host so they don't get blitzed too badly? I'll update this post as new hosts come online.

Cheers.<pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre"> </pre>

Hey Hardball:

I just never got around to using your ealier versions, but definitely will be using this one. I just downloaded it---pretty amazing, all the work you put into it. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif You, Shift_E, Uberdemon, Sharx and the rest that put this stuff together for the enjoyment of the community are really great. I feel like a slug 'cause I don't have anything to contribute, all I can say is many thanks!

Hardball,

Do you know something we don't? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

If not, then why is there a <span class="ev_code_RED">"Tempest Mk. V, Hawker"</span> sitting in your viewer? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Reveal your sources, I say. Reveal them! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Well, I do know something. But it's simply that I used "IL-2 Compare" to get most of the data, and that program included in-game data on the Tempest and the Ki-100. So my guess is that their release is imminent. And now you know, too!

There are some aircraft that didn't have IL2 Compare data (see the ReadMe). Hopefully Youss will include them in his Excellent IL-2 Compare in due course.

Yeah apparently airware is having a bandwith problem. The main page says it should be back up tomarrow.

Very well done. I like how you snuck in a few extras that have yet to be included in game. I am hoping you will include more as they arrive.

Is that a typo with the J2M3 or is the game just being very generous with its speed? 658km/h? More like 585 and 471. I'll have to check the game.

658 appears to be the in-game data according to IL-2 compare. Whether it's true to the RL J2M3 I don't know, but that's apparently what it'll do in the game.

HardBall S!,

Got it from Snoopy's mirror site he posted. Some initial impressions after tinkering with it :

-- Nice anticipation on the Tempest and Ki-100. How did you get the screenshots ?

-- the Ju-52 floatplane version, is it in the game now or is it a future addition also ?

-- one plane I did notice was missing, the Spitfire VIII. IIRC, Oleg included it with PF or one of the PF patches.

Great work ! A nice complement to the in-game Object Viewer. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Thanks HardBall! I'm having som eproblems downloading it just now, but I'll grab it as soon as I can.

Does anyone know where I can get IL-2 Compare v2.5? I've downloaded it from Airwarfare.com, but when I try to unpack the files I get a "Disk Read Error" So any help in getting it somewhere else will be highly appreciated. (I've tried Googling for it to no avail...)

Edit
Sorry guys, got IL-2 Compare to work. I used WinRAR instead of WinCommander to unpack it and it worked. Now all I need is HardBalls Aircraft Viewer...

Edit2
Got it! D/L'ed it from Airwarfare.com http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Wow, because the games object viewer gives the same speed my Japanese source uses 596 km/h at 5,450m. Of course in your viewer 658 is the speed for 5,900m. Yet, the same Japanese data oddly says its speed was only 426 km/h at 6,000m. I don't know tough to tell whats right or wrong cause they are all at different altitudes.

Screenshots involved Photoshopping some development updates http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

JU-52 Floatplane is in there, but is only available through the FMB. For some reason it appears to be difficult for the campaign engine to include it automatically http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Holy cr@p! There's a Spitfire Mk.VIII ! When did that get included? I completely missed it!

I better get busy on Hardball's Aircraft Vierwer version 3.01 http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/354.gif

It just goes to show - you learn something every day!

Downloaded it, but unfortunately can't get it to install- every time I start installation, I get a warning that several system files are out of date, would I like them to be updated? After clicking on yes, I get a message several seconds later that the comp needs to be restarted for updates to take effect. Guess what- same scenario after restart........
I am running W2000 pro with SP4 and all further updates. Any ideas somebody?

Unzip the .cab file into a separate folder and run the program as a stand-alone from there. It should work fine.

Thanks, Hardball. It works now! Interesting that according to this spec sheet, the F2A-2 is faster than an A6M2, which more or less supports the observation made by KNIL Brewster B-339D pilots that their aeroplane was faster. Unfortunately, this isn't the case with the F2A-2 in PF. It should also be faster than the F4F, not slower!
