I wonder if Ubisoft is going to get a big advantage from this. If so does 1C also get this benefit.

From the BBC News Today.

BRUSSELS, Belgium -
European Union regulators said Wednesday they're investigating France's proposed tax break for video game makers to see if it's an illegal subsidy.

France wants to give a tax credit worth 20 percent of the cost of making video games with cultural value ??? saying these must satisfy a test that the games provide a quality and original contribution to "European cultural diversity and creativity."

French officials say video games can be as artful as cinema. But the
European Commission said the standards were so broad they could include video games that are not strictly cultural.

"At this stage, it cannot be ruled out, for example, that simulation video games or video games based on motor car races might benefit from the measure," it said.

Regulators also said they needed to check if the tax break might give an unfair advantage to French companies over rivals in other EU countries.

The EU executive is responsible for upholding laws that prohibit governments from favoring one sector, or one company, over others in Europe. Subsidies to support art and culture are only allowed within a strict set of circumstances.

I did a similar thing myself a few years ago-but the snake was already dead.

Whilst on patrol in my area of Staffordshire,UK I had to attend an incident at about 2 in the morning. Other patrols were alraedy there when I arrived and had sorted the matter out. However as I got out of the car I saw what I thought was a kids toy snake on the road at my feet.I bent down and picked it up to find it was a dead Corn Snake (not native to the UK).

Oh the fun I had with that thing-well, when the other patrol is two female officers in the same patrol car then that is the most obvious place for it to be placed first-right? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif At night I can still hear the screams!!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

That snake provided endless amusement that night. It was in and out of various patrol cars, in hats, in an envelope to the on duty Inspector and finally ended up in an empty Evian water bottle on the oncoming Sergeants desk in the morning. When she realised what it was she cleared her office in one bound. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

What can I say-Law enforcement is a serious business. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
