Well, I was watching the trailer and noticed that when Altair aproaches the city he is following a close path. I mean if you watch closely you'll notice that the path is always surrounded by an elevation in the terrain that keeps the horse from going anywhere but the city. A proof of this is that when the horse jumps over the fallen log he gets a little bit stuck with the "edge" of the path and he kinda slides back to the path. This wouldn't be the first time they do this, I mean connect the cities with "highways" where you are not allowed to go anywhere but the next city. Think of The Godfather, the districts were connected by highways surrounded by buildings that wouldn't let you go anywhere else. This thing is troubling me because I was really looking forward to riding in open fields from city to city. What do you think?

That was only through one part of the game don't worry about it. The distance between the cities would take days to travel, I wouldn't be surprised if they gave you a path to follow but I'm sure that it will be more linear in the main area between the two cities as opposed to right next to the city like it was in the video. Traveling between the two cities isn't primarily where their talking about free-roam, I think they mean free-roaming in the cities more.

Anyways that was months ago, I'm sure their improving the game everyday. Don't worry to much about paths between cities, the game is in the city not the area between.

It was a demo. Maybe they hadn't work all the little kinks out of the open terrain, maybe the didn't include it in the demo "disc," etc. That's done in demos of games like this released to the public all the time, it isn't anything to get too worried about. And, like chewie1890 said, that's probably not what they're talking about when they say "free-roam" though I do hope there's more to do outside of town then ride your horse to another town.

yeh, i think that they should let us roam freely. It would a bit more freedom into game; but i suppose there is alot of freedom already, no?

They are letting us roam freely. That was a beta demo shown months ago, the were just getting the main point across, if you notice they didn't really have much time to waste. You might even get tired of going in between cities on your horse. Just don't worry about it. Either way it will be a great game.

A demo isn't going to let you travel everywhere.

Here I am to say the phrase (*cleaning throat*): All we have to do is wait for more info on the game, OR (even better than this) we have to wait for the real deal to get in our machines (that's right, machines. I don't like wars between the PC community and the consoles community).

Yeah, you are probably right guys. Thanks! I'll better worry about other things, like saving up to buy the special edition!

Uhm, AC was NEVER announced as having free roaming except when in cities, do ppl really think that you'll be able to rida from acre to damascus in real time, being able to take whichever path they'll like?
Say hello to another year of development for that.

Guys, you do realise that the code that you've seen so far is very early code and does not have every feature, map, model, character, city, etc, in it? To base such beliefs on the very limited code you've seen so far is a bit hasty.

Why would you want to leave the path anyway? To go explore caves and kill minotaurs? I don't think so. This game is all about the cities.

[insert response with plea for more new info]

Or something like that. I'm kinda surprised nobody has been whining about new videos for awhile now.
