I'll try and end bash T-cruise week with my final comments about Top Gun ...

A few things I have noted from the DVD ..

The rear cockpit display should be a Tactial Information Display, not a PPI as was shown.

When Maverick gets catshot to go help Iceman, he is more than 100 miles from him. TC says something along the lines of "This is Maverick, I'm supersonic(ly short), I'll be there in 30 seconds" he must be travelling about Mach 17, in an AC with a top speed of Mach 2.

All Navy pilots wear nomex flight gloves, keep the sunvisors down, and keep the mask attached

Maverick tells Goose " I'm going to hit the brakes and he'll fly right by." He throws the throttle straight forward kicking into afterburner and preventing speed brake from deploying. ...

Maverick lands on the aircraft carrier and then decides to go get Cougar he pulls back on the throttle instead of putting it at full military power.

The supposed Mig-28's were North Korean, but the carrier group was in the Indian Ocean, impossible for the Mig-28 's to go that far to attack said CBG.

Maverick fires the same missile from the same wing hardpoint three times, maybe 4??

And probably many, many more foo-paws !!

good friday to ya !!

I think TC is a wussie . Actually he looks like one. What was that movie he "fought" with somebody. He looks like he's dancing or whatever. the best guys are sir Sean Connery , Pierce Brosnan (actually every British actor) , Bruce Willis , Samuel L.Jackson and few others. The rest are just doing money , not acting. Doh!

Also, there is no such thing as a Mig 28.

You may find the Mig-28 does exist, this site has all the Mig from 1 to 29 listed in pairs with their Russian inventers and stuff.

Wussie..and you don't think Pierce "Skinny" Brosnan is a wus.

The little dried up whimp couldn't whip a house cat.

Sean Connery is great...but he's seventy years old. That just don't fit.

Bruce Willis was a dancer boy for Dr.Pepper...."Be a pepper drink Dr.Pepper".. So prissie. He's about 5'4" and could only be a threat to a house cat that Brosnan couldn't whip. How anyone like him could ever be thought of as an action adventure type...Die Hard 1 was a mean film could have probably made PeeWee Herman into an Action Star.

Samuel L. Jackson is believable along with a lot of other actors. Just that they didn't have Black Pilots flying for Britain, that I'm aware.

Tom Cruise needs to do his prissie dance in his underwear, excites the girls. Afterall, made him famous /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif May even pop the ratings a bit. LOL

Cruise is a better choice than Afleck that's sure, at least he can act. Also, he's not quite as purty as Ben.

--------------- /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Alan Rickman is my choice, the guy is a great actor. He was awesome in Die Hard, as the Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood...better still. He wouldn't attract as many people box office wise...that is always the issue isn't it?

Not taalking about die hard series. Actually the first movie I have seen with him was blue moon , or something like that when he had as partner cybil sheppard or whatever the name is. The guy was pretty funny. But action movies with Bruce Willis I liked were Mercury rising , Brady (or bradley or whatever) war , that one with planet of xxx monkeys , those were pretty good. And liked also the last boy scout , that was a good one. Die hard are boring after the half of the movie. Now , mr. 007 , 4th edition , pierce , that is , he's pretty cool in some movies , not 007 (pretty good movies though). There are lotta other actors I like , many not from Hollywood , but I have to think too much. is true though that maverick does not fit there. He's good to make the broads their bra's , yep , he's good but if you fart next to him , he will most probbably pass away.

u know chaps, Mr. Cruise bought a P-51 Mustang some time ago (just after he broke with his ex-wife), "Montana Miss" and seems like he's gonna play in a BoB movie where he acts as an "eagle squadron" member...
Btw i wish i could confort myself from a divorce like he does (buying a mustang i mean!) /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I can think of worse ways to exit a marriage.

TC - Oh no, I've split from my beautiful actress wife Nicole Kidman. What shall I do?

Mate at pub - Buy yesself a Mustang and shag Penelope Cruz.

TC - Bloody good idea!

Yes , actually he will fly that mustang in the bob movie. He fought against a mig28 , why not a mustang against an E4,eh?

and nope , I don't think he was so sad about divorce , the guy is probably shaggin' himself than Penelope , he's narcisistic if you didn't knew. I guess is because of this his wife leaaved , hehehehe.

Tom Cruise is a world class lout... The revered mother of his kids cavorting around like a harlot in the Stanley Kubrick film. Cruise is a wasted A$$ for ever encouraging his wife, the mother of his children to take such a part as she had in the film.

He had no repect for his wife or family to put that kinda crap up for the world to see. He allowed the abasing of his wife, their children and their whole relationship, what a piece of work he is.

That film was just a manifestation of how the man thinks. When you're as big a star as he is...you can pick an choose what you do. I'm sure he had plenty of offers for other films, but he took the sleazy one.

Tom Cruise is a twit...who needs to keep dancing like the idiot he is in his underpants.

well nearmiss, i love "eyes wide shut", and i think it was not an easy decision to act that kind of scenes for them.
U expressed a 18th century comment on their free (and well paid)decision, and btw i think they broke for other reasons i.e. his wife having spent too many money on the Scentology $hit...

Tom Cruise is a $cientologist, not his wife.

Well, to judge Top Gun we must only wonder what's the use of Early Warning Hawkeyes, F-14's six target tracking system and Phoenix missiles, if they are always going to fight close dogfights -where F-14 is a sitting duck- with cannons and so... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

But, what to say about a guy that introduces a Samba dancer in a Spanish Holy Week procession and then make we the Spaniards burn unvaluable Renacentist wooden statues from the 16th century? (MI2) /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

And that enters an enemy complex with hands in pockets but carrying more than 20 pounds of -previously invisible- equipment, including a mask resembling himself to use in the unlikely case he makes a prisoner and disguises him as himself, to cheat the evil boss? (MI2) /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

You see, horrible dangerous bio weapons are always luminiscent ghostly green or red, and the antidote is also in a different gaudy colors. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif Terrorists put a visible clock in their bombs to help the deactivators knowin the exact moment of detonation. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif And the guys in Mission: Imposible 2 always find their enemies by instinct -surely they have seen the movie first. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Eyes Wide Shut has only two valors: 1) Nicole Kidman & other beauties naked. 2) I didn't pay to see it. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

The only film by Cruise I like is: Rainman (and Hoffman made all the work).

Ah, about Ben Affleck.. he's made a TV spot that is being emited here in Spain. It's a shampoo commercial. He says "This is a dangerous work..." and then he holds and kisses a chick before a camera and says "...for my hair...now again". Finally, he says "Just because I'm worth it". /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Did someone see the "South Park" series episode where Affleck ws the lost son of ***-faced parents? He really looks that in the spot. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I love the part in the end of MI(1) where he leaps from the helicopter that he has just planted c4 bublegumbomb to the back of the train that is towing it along at high speed throught the tunnel

Rainman would have been a good flick without him, and certainly EWShut was worth the watch to see kidman naked and in compromised positions

quite a few scientologists are pilots .. travolta quite an accomplished one to boot, rated multi engine jets, he does simulator time with a client in Arizona

Here is something about the Hollywood short round that will make any decent person wake up crying in the middle of the night.

I found an article in one of the online UK newspaper sites in that it seems that TC is in the planning stages of doing a new movie about the BoB. He is going to play one of the 7 Americans who fought with Fighter Command. It will be called "The Few"

The problem is that quite a few of the real "Few" can see the hand writing on the wall and know how this movie will turn out and they are not happy about it at all.
------------------
Scene 1: The British are failing to beat back the Germans. Their planes are no good, their leaders are not only bad and stupid, but they are also drunk. Churchill is hiding in his war room and refuses to get out of bed. ALL IS LOST!!! THERE IS NO HOPE FOR WESTERN CIVILATION.

Scene 2: (Enter stage right, "Stud Muffin Cruise") who now runs to his bright silver Spitfire and leaps over the tail and lands in the cockpit with his seat belt and chute already on and attached. As he roars off to do battle with the dreaded Hun, the camera cuts to a sky shot that has at least 1000 German bombers filling it.

Scene 3: Midget man and the other six Yanks are racing to intercept the dreaded Huns before they can bomb the Royal Family in Buckingham Palace and win the war. From 20 miles away he and the Squadron let lose a barge of sidewinder missiles that shot down every German in the sky.

Cut to TC and close up as he says to the camera, "That's for you Dad" (Sub plot, his Dad was shot down in WW1 by the Red Baron not once but 6 times)

Closing shot is of TC and the 6 (The Few) leading the entire Royal Air Force in their Spitfires on a mission to Southern Germany to bomb Hitler at the Alpine retreat.
----------------
I am an American and I can see Hollywood doing this with no problem. I just watched the 1969 BoB movie last night and still believe that it is the best WW2 air battle made.

Salute
Uppy

Cruise actually bought the Mustang long before he split with Nicole. He also flys a Pitts and is a very competent pilot. The Mustang was rumored to have been fitted out with dual controls on the insistance of Hollywood execs while TC was checking out in it. I have a hard time believing this to be true. Cruise has stated that he would like to race the Mustang at Reno in the near future.

The P-51 he bought is actually an F6K-15NT (SN 44-12840) restored as a P-51D and is currently registered to Vallhalla Aviation .
