Blew a wad o'cash yesterday ($150 Cdn.) and bought a MS Force Feedback stick. Wasn't sure if it would be worth it but it's fun so far. (Even the install was painless)

First thing I noticed was that it gave much tigher control over my ancient and bruised Sidewinder 3D Pro. Second thing was that it went "BBBBBRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPPPP" when I fired the guns. Cool!

Not sure if it's the better control ofthe stick or the FF effect, but on my first flight with a FW-190 - which I fly like a falling brick - I didn't stall once and knocked down two bombers while only taking minimal hits. Much better control than before. Gave great control in FS2002 on the heavies too.

Not all the effects are that great or balanced (the machine guns rattle harder than the cannons) but it really does take the game to another level. I swear even the graphics looked better. I guess the more toys you add on, the better the whole thing appears.

All in all, good fun. Does anyone know if there are FF templates available for IL2?

while the ground shake and gun vibration is fun and the prestall rattle is useful I found in serious combat it was better to turn FFB off in th eiL2 menu and simply have the stick self centre with a "strong" centring force

Congratulations on your new stick!

No all you need is some real FFB files to go with it (default ones are too strong, and bugged)

You can modify them using the fedit program.

Also look for various peoples files: check this thread for Smokin256's now famout bug fixing bomb ffb file! http://forums.ubi.com/messages/message_view-topic.asp?name=Olegmaddoxreadyroom&id=zvdwm

Thanks for the info.

And thanks to you RBJ. Though I've trash-talked you in the past, I appreciate that you step up and offer some help all the same. Thank you.

I have a MS FFB2 as well and flying without Force Feedback now is just plain weird! The buffeting during pre-stalls really helps you push the envelope and makes sure you can come back with out a paper cut http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Just bought the MS Sidewinder FF 2. And like you, I love this thing! My TrackIR is on it's way, and now all I need are some rudder pedals, then game on!
