I have to say that PF doesn't even compare to CFS. Or should I say that the other way around. I am very pleased with the graphics and the aircraft. Of course there are always things that can be improved upon, but for my first experience with UBI and WW2 sims, it is pretty good. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

I do have a few questions though that I could not find the answers to here...

Is there a tutorial on how to edit the config file? I got the water looking awesome, but am curious about the other settings and what they mean.

I only have PF. When I picked the P-51 to fly it put me in the F4 Wildcat. Do I need to have IL2 and FB to get all the planes to be flyable?

Is there a way to toggle off the radio text in the top center screen?

Last one. Has anyone created any missions for this game besides the default ones? Once I complete all the default missions and campaigns it would be nice to see what others have created.

That is all my questions. Thank you for answering them. This is a terrific game, I especially like the repaint of Lulu Bell. Nice touch! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Been working on the Battle Off Samar this evening. I posted some pics and info under topic 'Mini Samar'.

No tutorial that I know of, sorry.

To use aircraft like the P-51 you need to buy FB and then the Aces expansion pack. You don't need the original IL-2 since all the content is included in FB and it won't work with PF anyway. If you buy FB + AEP you can then install PF on top of them so you can use all aircraft - useful because a lot of Pacific Theatre aircraft are found in FB+AEP and not in PF (e.g., P-51, P-38, Ki-84 etc, the latter having a particularly beautiful cockpit).

Yes, you can toggle the text off by changing settings in the conf.ini file in the root directory. I use:

[game]
Arcade=0
HighGore=1
mapPadX=0.66875
mapPadY=-0.046666667
viewSet=49
Intro=0
NoSubTitles=1 <- turns off subtitles
NoChatter=0
NoHudLog=0
NoLensFlare=0
iconTypes=2
eventlog=eventlog.lst
eventlogkeep=1

The last entry records stats from multiplayer games in a file called eventlog.lst created in the root directory. How many bullets you fired and how many hit their target etc. Useful.

The lack of ready made missions is a major disappointment. I am making some up and will probably post them up in the Mission Builder forum, but we don't have a central repository for missions as we have for skins (il2skins.com if you've not found it yet - go for Hammerd, canonUK and Tchaika's skins to start with).

RocketDog.
