Hello boys and girls!

After a long, long time of other interests and RL stuff to take care of I am right back at my roots; combat flightsimming!

I have installed IL-2 1946 and applied the 4.08m patch go get current again, but I can't seem to find my favorite addon of all;
IL-2 MAT Manager to get the correct markings on all the aircaft?

Is is not available anymore? Is there a 1946 version still out there somwhere or has another application taken over?

Also which servers are still alive and kicking these days, or hasn't much changed since about 1.5 years or so, still?

Hi, welcome back Yskonyn.

Probably the best place to find addons is Mission4Today: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php

You will need to register to download, but it is a really useful site. While you are there, you can get the latest patch, 4.09m (not the earlier 4.09 beta patch), and be completerly up to date.

To catch up with patching, servers etc, I suggest you have a look in Bearcat's Nugget's Guide (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/9121094645)

There is plenty of online activity, mostly via HyperLobby, though at the moment the situation is a bit confused with different servers supporting different versions and mods - some of us are raising a bit of a stink about this, and to be fair, the modders do seem to be trying to sort out a common standard.

As for what has changed, I suspect not a lot - still arguing here about the effectiveness of .50 cal MGs and the dive characteristics of the P-38...

Thanks!

Ah I didn't know 4.09m was released yet. There doesn't seem to be a note on these boards? At least not a sticky, which is a bit odd, isn't it?

Anyway I found MAT Manager 2.36, but I don't know if this is the latest version?
I do know, however, that it keeps asking me for the IL2fb.exe file, even if I define it in the options, so the utility does not work at this time. I never had problems with Mat Manager before...

Yeah same old, same old I reckon. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif That's a good thing though.

Ubisoft, and Maddox Games for that matter, are no longer involved in producing patches for the game. Have a look here (http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/forumdisplay.php?f=98).

There's a lot of mods around, but only a very few which are up to the standard of the original game. I don't know whether we're allowed to link to those, though.
I don't know about MAT Manager, I was never a big fan and the website seemed to have fallen into disrepair long before the release of 4.09m.
Things to look forward to, though, Team Daidalos (the team now working on patches for IL-2 who finished the work on 4.09m) are planning to include airborne intercept radar, dual throttle control and AI triggers to future releases.

4.09...plus (http://simhq.com/_air13/air_420b.html)

I think that TheGrunch is oversimplifying the situation re patches. The latest patch is a cooperative effort between Maddox and an outside team: hopefully they will be doing further patches, with some significant enhancements, but only with Oleg's approval.

The 4.09m patch adds a few more flyable aircraft: a bit obscure, but all interesting to fly. Be sure to try out the new 'Scramble' option in the QMB too...

If cooperative means "finished what someone else started and gave up on after reaching early beta stage" I guess so. I get the impression that Oleg is more than happy for TD to continue as long as they don't try to upstage SoW. Given that the videos in the SimHQ article above were provided alongside an interview with Oleg, I can't imagine that those are features he would not approve of adding. There are some features that seem to be off-limits, though. I believe 6DoF for TrackIR is one of those, although I may be wrong.
