With the 100% reliance on managing a colony in the new world, if you are defeated there for some reason your game is done.

You can't progress at all, and will remain stuck at artisans forever.

Yes, I know you can amass a fleet and attempt to recapture, but in the games we've been playing it's almost impossible to get enough of a fleet together against the opponent in both worlds.

im more pissed off that im stuck in the top left corner of the map and all of my trade boats have to travel all the way down south past enemy boats just to start the journey, its absolute bollocks and anyone on the southern half of the map has a huge advantage

I wouldn't mind it that much if warships could stay tagged to the boats that are travelling to the new world. But it seems that they stop escorting from the moment your trading ships disappear of the map.

you can buy rum from Madame Kahina. I dunno about cotton though.

hot tip: you can set where on the map border your ships go. So if the direct route goes right past pirate isle or a dangerous player at least you can affect that.

True, but it doesn't help much when the pirate is in the right bottom and the enemy ai in the left bottom, leaving you a tiny area to try to squeeze thru, especially when your patrolling ships apparently have narcolepsy. Every ten minutes I'm reassigning patrol ships because they're just sitting in one spot for some reason even though they say patrolling and not idle. It would be helpful if we could make them go off the map to left or right instead of just down (or whichever way the new world is in that session of game)

That brings me to a question, how do we ever end war with a 2 star or higher ai? I've tried to bribe and flatter George Smith to no end. But I can only ever get him up to maybe 7 or 8 and then inevitably it goes down, either because of degrade over time, I shoot a ship defending myself, or the newspaper pisses him off to much.
