Just a quick update. The server is up and running for 1 year already. Many things have been fine-tuned by this moment and the war is very exciting now!

Some features:
- the server runs in IL-2 'dogfight' mode but with almost all 'coop' features possible
- frontline actually moves depending on ground war results that is influenced by air-activity results (check the map in one hour to see what changed)
- logistics (fuel, ammo and spare parts supplies)is modeled that you can influence destroing warehouses, trains, vehicles and therefore closing enemy fields and limiting fuel supplies for tanks etc.
- you can bomb strategic targets behind enemy lines or attack tactical ground targets tanks, artillery etc to win the war
- you select your air-mission youself together eith your squad-mates. There are NO standard pre-defined missons. Create any mission you want to surprise the enemy http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
- historical Eastern Front plane sets
- plane set your squad will use during the war is selected in the beginning of war and can not be changed. There are several options to select from.
- this is a squad only war. Join as a squad of 4 or more pilots or create a new one. This fact insures a very high level of participating players in terms of combat, tactics and strategy skills
- hardest difficulty settings (compass only)
- 5 minuts 'deathkick' to reflect on tactics and teamwork http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
- probably some the best pilots with VEF, VOW and other 'coop' projects experience
- 0 to 8000 meters altitude fights
- limited supply of the most up-to-date mordern aircraft makes everyone care of getting back to home base
- up to 128 players (current load 30 to 50 players)
- and much more (just have to feel it)

The server is still in beta test (release candidate) and it is free!

At this moment the server runs 4.05m version. When the server is not visible in HL it is easily accessible through The All-Seeing Eye http://videogames.yahoo.com/multiplayer
(after ADW registration only)

Thank you, Orheim, for recommendation. You have very impressive artwork in your signature. Do you have a website for artwork with more great pictures?

Thanx mate. No sorry to say, I hang out at screenshotprints.com and screenshotart.com, but no website of my own, too busy with the squadpage and flying.. haven't had too much time lately to do some more screens either... the Pe2 addon steals all the left over time I have http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif ... maybe I'll do a few next fall.

I like ADW when early war... just my preferencehttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif I will join up later tonight.. been awhile since I was there. The trouble is that the guys who participate in this "online war" are VERY able pilots and everytime I have logged on alone without any of my squadron mates to wing me, I have been shot down.... TEAM WORK is essential, more on this server than any one else I know.

So again, if you are looking for a GREAT server, with the availability of a "dogfightmap" but with the same focus on "objectives" as a coop, please take the time to register on ADW. It is very challenging as the pilots (again) who fly it are very experienced and clever....

LW seems to need reinforcements, I know ADW has been running 4.05m for awhile.... and we in the west just got it.

Schtolz, is Pe2 included the planeset now?

Oh, I see F19 is not registered anymore.... have to deleted all the squads? do I need to register again?

It looks very interesting but it's a real shame that they aren't restricting the use of landing lights and smoke trails in combat. Some folks just use those in such an unrealistic manner, it's like watching a circus.

Hopefully, the admins will reconsider this.

Orheim, the war was reset and restarted April 19th. You do not need to register again, just select a planeset.

Yes, Pe-2 is included and it is quite a tough target to catch at 7000 meters.

I tried to fly ADW without a wingman a couple of times myself and do not want to repeat this experience any more http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
What's possible to do is create an English speaking channel on the official ADW TeamSpeak to support each other when squadmates are not around. Anyone who joins first can create one on this TS server.

So, looks very impressive.

However, the FAQ link on the opening page doesn't work and I was wondering if someone could give me a simple description of the basics. We're used to VOW...

The rules section is very detailed but I can't find reference to some fundamentals, and hence have a few jumbled questions...

I've registered my squad and verified my IP. I can connect - does this mean I'm succesfully "in" or do I still need to do the >logon>password thing? Does it make any difference if I connect via direct IP or ASE?

I've tried connecting once, All Seeing Eye said there were 28 players in the server, when I logged in via direct IP there was no-one there.... am I missing something?

Missions reportedly last an hour, do they "start" on the hour - i.e. is there a set schedule of mission start times?

Is there always a mission running?

Are the objectives completely open? (Do we take off in IL2s and beetle about until we find some storage tanks to blow up or are there objectives from further up the chain of command)? Do we always aim for the areas of engagement marked on the map? The mission I connected to, if indeed I did it properly, had no brief.

@ AWL_Spinner

The is no one FAQ yet since it's in beta test and rules are changing...
The best source for information is international forum here
http://www.gennadich.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=14
First read the news thread.
There are many players more experienced and knowledgable than I am there.

I've registered my squad and verified my IP. I can connect - does this mean I'm

succesfully "in" or do I still need to do the >logon>password thing? Does it make any difference

if I connect via direct IP or ASE?

No difference. Use one method you prefere. Watch for chat messages. Serer warns you if something

is wrong.

I've tried connecting once, All Seeing Eye said there were 28 players in the server,

when I logged in via direct IP there was no-one there.... am I missing something?

The Eye does not always show correct info. Hit 'refresh' to get recent data. Also check your port settings: there 2 other servers run on different ports with the same IP. The busiest hours

are about 16.00 to 23.00 GMT. And weekends.

Missions reportedly last an hour, do they "start" on the hour - i.e. is there a set

schedule of mission start times?

You can check mission 'timeleft' on the main page above the map.

Is there always a mission running?

Yes it is unless server is 'updating', being reset, reprogrammed. However you need at least 4

players from each side to make your actions influence statistics and ground forces advancement.

Are the objectives completely open?

No chain of command here. All objectives are defined by generator and shown on the map as you can see above. Arrows are tanks. Circals are supply

depots. Defence-lines are artillery. There are also supply convoys between depots and tanks as described in the Rules.

You are welcome to ask any questions at ADW international forum. Sure you will find all the support you need from more experienced ADW players there.

S! Welcome! And GL!
