4. what does Magneto switch do?

Ok, here goes.

1. Slats, slots - many names (som du sikkert er klar over har kært barn mange navne - sorry, I know Kalle understands http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif), enhance airflow over the wing at high angles of attack thereby forestalling a stall http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

2. BF = Bayarische Flugzuegwerke, the name of the company before Willy bought it out.

3. IL2 (unhacked) does not have 6DOF http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

4. Switches the ignition on/off (tændingsnøglen) http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

109 slats explained here:

http://109lair.hobbyvista.com/techref/systems/control/slats/slats.htm

Some other aircraft had them too.

Very good question IMHO, I have wondering the same thing ...

... I think the following old (2003!) thread should answer the magneto question:

http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/39010764/p/1

Looks to me like there's no need to play with them in IL2.

Magnetos provide the spark for the spark plugs. Nothing more.

They do not provide power to anything else. They are not generators.

In this game, their usefulness is nil.

In my experience this is not entirely correct. A few times I have been flying a plane. I suffered battle damage and the engine stops, and the only way I can restart the engine is to change mag setting from one to the other. IIRC.
