So I've been trying to fly the German fighters, and although I really like the 110 and 109, I've started to really enjoy something totally different.

On a whim, and bored of the ai always bombing and me playing the role of the gunners, I decided to give the Stuka a try, and try my hand at dive bombing. I have to say, the Ju-87B2 is really fun to fly, and getting into dive bombing was pretty easy and is extremly exhilarating. I've actually found that I'm far better at doing that than I am at dog fighting and flying fighters.

Since I've fallen in love with the Stuka, I'm going to have to give the SBD-3 a try after the very long German campaign is done. Just thought I'd share my enthusiasm of the Stuka with everyone. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

At times I fly the Stuka myself. It's easy flying and a great expirience in divebombing. Had some pretty immersive moments there at times. Great fun! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

It's really a great plane to fly when...
You have an online map with one objective to destroy.
The other side has has been taking out your mates coming in a 3000m second to none.
You've spent 30 minutes of a 45 minute map, going wide along the map perimeter, to finally get into position some 6000m up.

As you approach your target, you hear the other sides growing urgency on Teamspeak - "where the hell is he".. "we haven't seen him yet, we've got everybody else", "he's high.. he's low"....
...
...
"I've got our flak opening up.. HE'S OVER THE TARGET... QUICK GET HIM", "I cannot see him"

and you cut engines, roll over on your back for final target aiming, dive brakes on, jericho siren on, press-to-talk "Hello Girls,.. bawahahahaha" with siren screaming over teamspeak...

such a sense of achievement http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Since I had started my campaign, I started with Gruppe 4(Stuka) Lehrgeschwader 1. What is Lehr, is that learning?

I tried to get info on the squadron but I couldn't get any definite information. I'll do a search for a Stuka squadron on the eastern front just for flavor's sake. I do like the squadron's insignia (the one I mentioned above).

I also think the Stuka is best looking aircraft in the game. Maybe I just like the rugged look of it, but I've always been a fan of this plane since I first saw it on the discovery channel back when I was a little tike (like 6-7yrs old, I'm 28).

It's a really rugged plane, like the IL2 but they both had their weaknesses, mainly lack of air superiority spelt heavy losses.

When I was 11, my father bought me an all metal Stuka for Xmas. It had the works, bells and whistles... you would see me for weeks 'flying' that plane around the neighbourhood...

Dive bombing is a great way of accurately bombing with any aircraft.

I can plant a bomb directly on top of a tank about 50% of the time with any fighter bomber.

Another great advantage of the Stuka is if you're flying online, and someone who is only used to AI Stukas (i.e. myself) decides to take you on. I wasn't expecting the darned thing to dogfight me, and got shot down - I think I was in a Spit at the time too. Most embarrassing.... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/bigtears.gif

I havn't tried online play yet at all, still a bit intimidated with that yet. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I have fun with the AI right now, and I'm yet to fly full realistic yet.

Correct, we can do that because this is a game we play at our desks.

In real life, no fighter on earth was as accurate as a Ju-87 Stuka. Slow and vulnerable as it was - nothing in the sky could put so heavy a bombload placed so accurately as that bird could.

Prettiest bird in the sky imo =D

The ground-pounding missions in this sim are the most fun of all! Particularly, the jabos, stukas, and sturmoviks.

At times it can be far more interesting than flying fighters, at least for me.

As someone has said:
Fighters write movie-books,
Bombers write history!!

Not many things can beat manning the tailgunner position and setting fire to a Spitfire or Hurricane engine. Got 3 kills in a coop doing that.

The Ju-87 is a blast to fly.
I like flying them in the DGen campaigns.
The SBD's aren't bad either.
I definitely like the tail gunner position on both of them.

How about the Val? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif It is incredibly stable while delivering bombs, and it is quite maneuverable.

Yeah it's great trying to estimate how far ahead of a moving train or truck convoy to aim. And then drop your load to see the entire train or convoy totally destroyed.

Stuka is fun, but in most servers, you're a target drone.
