RBJ of course !!!
Rumors have it he flies a stealth fighter (you'll probably never see him...)

From the "non-stealth" mortals:
Watch your back when you fly against the -=FA=- squadron!
-=FA=- Rattlecat, -=FA=- Memphis, -=FA=- JD
really bad news... kill ratio 150 : 1
It spent 1 month searching this forum before I was convinced that the IL2FB flight models these guys fly are not tweaked.

=FB=VikS, FZG_Immel and me of course!

(of course it always depends on the type of aircraft competing - some people are great only with yak's and others with fw's)

Good point, Zen_Fighter.

I don't think a pilot is all that good, if he can only fly one a/c. There are too many so called "aces", who fly in Yaks, La's and Doras, but I have a lot more respect for those flying in P40, older Bf109-Versions and those kind of a/c and still win.

I know what a Giro is in Greece. Guess it's pretty much the same in the UK.

I joined a server once and saw Kimmy in there. I left. Didn't want to wear out my E key. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

As to who`s the best pilot I think only those flying in coops could be taken into account. It takes more than just flying skills - situation awareness, luck.Best of`em know when to run.

Bear da max. Such a pleasant fellow on the board must be a real scheming brute in the cockpit. The one and only ace internet dogfighter I would trust to take me across the Berlin map, and back.

So....Bear, with or without his cockpits off, down around his ankles. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

Are you a non-UK person?

If so you've won, but if you're UK resident you're disqualified.

BTW, remember to edit other people's sigs out of your replies in future; it looks awful and is hard to read if you don't do that.

Why....I...I.......I am speechless.....thanya...thanya verruh much...
Although I disagree to be honest with you. There are too many guys and too many variables for any real kind of answer..this is almost as impossible to define as "Which was the best plane in WW2?" You would have to break it up into categories like DF,COOP,1vs1,team play, cockpit on,cockpit off, allied planes, axis planes, same plane, different plane, you would have to take the rigs into account......I know when I was fling in CFS with my 233MHZ machine with my 32MTNT and 368MSDRAM I was a lousy shot with a bullseye on my back. When I upgraded for CFS3, before I discovered the joys of IL2 I would fly online with my XP1600,64MGFMX200,and 768M of SDRAM and I was a stone cold killer. So ones rig would play an important role in gameplay...the guy with the P-4,2G RDRAM,9800Pro256,Audigy2,21" Monitor with TIR,HOTAS and pedals would have an inherent advantage over the guy pushing a 1.4G,8500,SBLIVE,one twist stick jock with 512M of SDRAM. True skill will come into play to some extent but not having lag or freezes at the wrong time, being able to see your opponent sooner and clearer and control your aircraft more precisely has to be an advantage. If I ever won the lottery I would rent out a hotel and set up 20 red hot rigs and have an FB flyoff....with the 1st place winner getting a trophy and say 5Gs and the knowlege that he or she is the best pilot online.......at least who could afford to make the trip. (see what I mean....../i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif )

i agree with you saying that it depends on the plane who's the better pilot... in fact, you would have to give the same conditions (that means the same aircraft) to any pilot joining the competition... but pilots prefer different planes... complex stuff it is /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif .... so who cares about being best? for me, i just wanna have fun

btw: where's rbj making clear that he's the best pilot ever? ...or at least making us understand that he's just too good to discuss with us about who's the best online pilot

the only one so far listed that qualifies as very top notch is Rattlecat. i will name them as i remember them and will forget a few i know. FA rattlecat, 401badger,jg27fusion, mantis78th ...he was FA Mantis. 663 asmody and 663wood. AIR Javelin, and about 2/3 rds of Fighter Jocks, me, evol ,murdoc, hughj, mastiff ,plague, chalice, are online most in the AFJ. there are many others i just cant remember them this early in the morning.yes i wrote many of my squad. i fly with them daily. the other squads are who stand out in my mind. none of the others listed in other posts ever gave me trouble. this list is far from complete but it will give you a start to find people to fly against to test your mettle.

I know JG would make it way up the ladder if not to the top.

Of course full real with cockpits on would have the be a requirment

I think there are too many factors involved to make an all encompassing judgement such as this. Connection speed and quality, computer equipment, opponents connection and computer, etc. I wish a game company/game service (HL) would introduce some sort of software that would equalize the connection and computer factor to a level playing field.
Yeah, yeah, I'm dreaming, but then a true cyber-pilot afficiando might then emerge.

The thing I like most about these posts, is I get to go down the lists and say, yup shot him down shot him down shot him down shot him down shot him down......

My point? Their stupid. No one has flown against all the pilots online, there are different definitions of good (team tactics vs. 1 on 1, etc.).

I have flown with Rattlecat several times. As I recall, I scored a hit on his plane with my Yak-9K as he was zooming by for the kill . . . .

But that was just once. He shot me down so many times . . . .

But I've flown with him a bunch of times too (I recall once where I saw XXXX has been shot down by rattlecat.
XXXX has been destroyed by rattlecat. and so on and so forth.

I think he killed six people in two or three passes.

It was at this point that I decided to stand and fight against him only when I had 2000m of alt on him or it was a head-on situation. If he is above me or not in my cone of forward vision, I am a goner.

I would say that he is the best pilot I have ever crossed cannon shells with.

aflak all the pilots in my list are as good as rattlecat. a few might be a hair better but close.i wont pick a best out of the bunch because everyone has a bad night once in a while. and yes ive shot all of them down. and been shot down by most all of them.i personally consistantly get 4 to 5 kills per plane in dogfights most times and survive to land as do these gents.either in t an b or b an z.so i say all in my list are Definitely aces. obviously there are more though. i dont fly mornings so i may be missing some top sticks

Including no padlock right ?

Full real is way overrated I fly in all configurations and can hold my own in all

So why would fullreal have to be the measure ??

If your going full real padlock has to be off as well

Id rather see a ladder where open pit & externals were alowed evasion is much better

realisim as far as actual visability is closer in open pit than it is in closed pit

In closed pit, full realism, no padlock, no nothing the fight will be determined by who sees who first.........

Who cares? On any given day the best pilot can be shot down. Look at Hartmann, and even the battles between Saki and Boyington.

blue devil ...hartmann was never shot down by another pilot. ever. he ran into debris from his own kills and was hit by flak a few times. and hard landed every time but he never was shot down. and i believe he never bailed out of any plane either. read the blond knight of germany. you are wrong.

Shot down is shot down Captain Conflict. Never said someone shot him down, just said he was shot down period, I.E. put out of action and forced to land a crippled plane. Being shot down doesn't mean you literally jump out of ur plane. Jeez you make a fight everywhere you go. RELAX

Best pilot is the one who lives to fight again /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif . I used to be one of the better dogfighters but I stopped dogfighting because you won't last long that way. You might take 7 of them down with you, but dead is still dead. Now I mostly ambush unsuspecting enemies. I probebly won't make the forum ace lists again, but thats fine. I'll make up for it with Knights Cross's in VOW /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif . My vote for best dogfighter goes to about 100 different people, including Jimmy Giro, Kocour, Taterinko, and 3GIAP_Gagarin.

At the start of WW2 the German army lacked experienced anti-aircraft gunners. The average gunner was so bad that the USSR decided to help them out. They did it by forcing some of their pilots to fly I-153 flak magnets. These planes were slow but very sturdy. This allowed German anti-aircraft gunners to get a large amount of target practice on a relatively small number of planes. Thanks to the Soviets help, by the end of the war the German anti-aircraft gunners were amoung the best in the world.

RBJ Brilliant very very funny just visited your link, I love ya!! Are you suprised that you were voted the funniest man in the pole, I'm not.

As for best online pilot always fly h/lobby in the evenings and am probably missing a lot. So I don't know and havent really got a comment, except one.

This is an extremely uneven playing field. For instance for everyone talking full real without padlock on, you try doing it as good as someone who just has to turn his head when all you've got is your joystick hat,, no way.

That is one instance the list is virtually endless.

I am not saying that a good pilot is that by virtue of his equipment but the adavantages that can be incured WHICH HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH FLYING SKILLS are many.

To really suss it would be extremely hard, i.e. everyone using exactly the same equipment over a lan, and give everyone enough time to become "familiar" with that set up, which in itself could take months.

As said above am not trying to take anything away from anybody here, the really good know who they are, but I have seen some very odd things happen online which has given another player an advantage over me,,,,, and they wern't always flying skills.

My twopenneth

Wow what an honour to be included in such great airmen. I thankyou and am humbled. If I may? Im incredibly impressed with AFJ Mastiff and AFJ Blackheart. they fly as wing incredibly well and always are a handful when I run up against them.

DACRIPLER is another pilot worthy of mention along BARON of the Folded 353 Squadron.

(I gracefully decline to name any squadmates as they are all great and wonderful pilots!)

Cheers!

LOL, I like the cut of this BlackPhenix's jib./i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

And before people go nuts, we are not the same person nor do I know who he is. Just in case.

To stay on topic, I don't think I've flown the best online pilot, yet. Each of the fine pilots listed in this thread, and there are some of the best on HL listed, has his strengths and weaknesses. Unfortunately, a few too many of them have the lag strength of ten men. It's hard to sort the skill from the lag, if you know what I mean.

Not saying anybody's cheating or anything. I said lag.

I recall a couple excellent dogfights with Major_Death back in IL2. I dare say I managed to sort him out some after awhile - but it was costly S!
I think it's riskier to mix it up now - with the much improved flight models. Generally I like the more relaxed tactics the Major alluded too these days.
