S! All

Wouldn't it be great if when joining a mission you couldn't even see the opposing teams aircraft choices? I'm talking COOP style online games.

It would be nice to be given a choice when you join the game (Red or Blue) which then locks you into that team so you can only read your own brief and see your own teams aircraft choices.

This way you wouldn't know your exact enemy type or strength which would add to the 'unknown' factor of combat. If possible it might be an "option" in the FMB so for those who would like a more "open" COOP - then they could switch it off.

Sorry if this has already been discussed but the search is buggered so I couldn't tell http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Would be nice to hear from anyone on dev team to see how realistic such a feature would be.

Cheers!

you can already lock the briefing accordding to the side chosen, both in DF and coop.... about locking the planeset, well. i suppose there could aslo be arguments for/against that.

Yes you can lock the brief but there is nothing stopping you choosing one side, reading the brief and then switching http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

I mean locking you in completely so you don't even see your opponents! But of course it should be an "option".

A bit like how you can limit the ammo/fuel loads at the moment - but you don't have to. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Agreed

The way we have coops now means you know exactly what you will be up against from the off and therefore removes alot of the tension out of well designed missions.

Maybe we could have some sort of list that the Host only sees?

That was the host could re-assign people who joined the wrong team or chose an aircraft incorrectly etc?

But hide this info from everyone else?

actually, you could make that choice "a definitive one".. meaning, if you do so, your nick can be prevented from logging into opposite side in the same game...

example:

you log into a red side. you see the briefing, and you want to switch. you can't see the "side menu" again... and if you disconnect, even in reconnect, your nick is logged into red side already... quite easy if you have a coop.txt recorded (and renewed for each game, so that the logging doesn't stay after the host starts a new game)

Split briefing is a great idea.

Until you press the "S" key in the coop.

This will have to be removed too like the old IL2 used to be showing just Pings and Pilots only.

I think this is a great idea, nothing is more frustrating than knowing the enemy knows your strengths/weaknesses beforehand.

RGR That - again it could be a host only option or just toggled/disabled.

And what if we can't see the enemy planes (ctrl-F2)i mean, i like to watch the show when my plane is down but if i don't see enemy planes i can't gives indications to my pals, and the externals view only available when my pilot is dead could be fair. Just a suggestion! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Totally agree! Externals when dead would be good as long as it wasn't abused. Maybe it would be good to be able to "sit" in a team mates cockpit to see what he sees? Or have the view randomly jump between friendlies. I know a lot of pilots who don't like being out of it completely when shot down.

And it is worst when you are hosting, i remember several times having a black screen for about 30 minutes ! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
quote:
Originally posted by JG5_UnKle:

Actually we already have the ability for what you propose in DF servers, trick would be to apply it to coops as well retaining a pre-list screen where currently you see all the planes, that simply just having red/blue slots seen by the opposing side........

As to locking people out from switching sides?...why?....What if red fills up and blue has only 2?...Now I've heard the argument of "so what, AI does fine so what does it matter"...Well it does in that If I lead a flight, I can command things to out tactic the other team.

I don't fear the flight of all A.I., I don't fear the flight of all player....I fear the flight of 1 player lead and an all AI flight.

So players would need to move if needed.....Called honor system guys, those without it in time ask to fly elsewhere http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I don't play DF that much.

I was only referring to co-op and the ability to see enemy planes external view modes.

If it could be an option to not allowing to see enemy planes just gives another dynamic to the sim.

you don't kknow wich kind of planes neither their numbers

I know that you just don't have to do CTRL-F2 and it will do the trick but somes are too curious anyway http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Bump!

1. Join
2. Read situation briefing
3. Choose side
4. Read mission briefing with detailled information
5. Choose plane and equipment - the list depends on your choice just like the briefing, so you won't know the enemy's planes until you switch sides which should be impossible optionally.
