Turn your hearing aid up first, we can all hear fine...

Full Mission Builder has lights, red, green, and white. But in this sim, these objects vanish from view beyond 2 kilometers so they are limited. FMB also has burning barrels you can place along a runway and they are visible out to maybe 10 to 15 kilometers and are very bright indeed.

You could put burning barrels along the approach, and line the runway with the much smaller light objects.

1. Turn your caps lock off.
2. If you use a program for actual night training, make it MS FS2004.

I appreciate your interest but caps lock does not affect ground lighting in the off net presentation.
We have used Flight Sim. since its inception but find it fairly awkward and clumsy to use in some aspects of aircraft handling.

What aspects would those be?

Airfields in the game are not lit, nor do they use modern signalisation...So if you are using this for actual flight training, may I ask in what way? or the context? I really dont see how something like this can help you train for your FAA licenses(or JAA or whatever..)

I fail to understand the problem with the capitalization of letters. It doesn't bother me a bit. I think most people get offended by things because they have the need to be offended. They literally want to be offended. The need to have something gripe about like a little cry baby...........It's not "yelling", it's only means someone wrote in capital letters. Big deal, get a life or something simlilar.

Just so you know...

The use of all capital leters or CAPSLOCK is considered as yelling. Its also difficult to read. You actually only read shapes of words rather than the individual letters...but we can go into that later.

For the sake of not being told this ever again, don't use capslock. We've all done it...now move along http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

As for lighting systems. Firstly, there are navigation lights on virtually all aircraft and there are landing lights on some types (if they were fitted they have it).

You can additionally use the Full Mission Builder to place lights in given locations. They can be white, green, red, or very bright white.

Its two things.

1) Good manners on the internet - the use of all caps is considered yelling, don't ask me why, I didn't invent that, but it is and thus everyone is asked not to yell unless necessary http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

2) When your eyes and brain work together to read words they do not read entire words. You do read the first and last letter of every word plus your brain see's the shape of the word and determines what it is. When you use block capital letters it actually becomes much more difficult to read long passages as you have to focus and sometimes go back on each letter. This is one of a variety of reasons why the use of all capitals is not generally acceptable and is typically used for titles or items that require extra attention (thus forcing you to read carefully to understand).

Hi Perseus,
Just ignore the whole CAPS LOCK thing.

Some folks just cant get past the idea that there are at times NEW PEOPLE that wander into this form of communication.

As for the night lighting thing, I'll mess with it in the full mission builder to see if I can give you some pointers.

Give me a call at the shop in Stockton or at home sometime.

I hope all is going well with Delta Victor and that the new gear door bracket fixes the problem.

They get past well, and and engage in behavior modification that will fit Newbies into webboard culture. People who post in caps locks change behavior or change webboards, fit or fry.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">Just ignore the whole CAPS LOCK thing. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Too Late, behavior modification has already been dealt out, which is why I could ignore dealing with it and went straight for the night light issue, knowing that most change behavior when they are made aware of this.

So now I'm being branded an idiot or a moron because I asked someone to turn off their caps lock for the very reasons cited by Icefire?

I guess now is a perfect time to change usernames. Later folks.

Type "netiquette" in google just for the fun of it.

Who cares about netiquette?? Someone came along back in the early days of the net and decided to arbitrarily make up a new rule just for the sake of making one up. I have just made up a new rule
( and I don't care if it becomes concensus or not ). My new rule, is that it's no longer a bad thing to write in caps. So there!! And I disagree about the harder to read thing. I find words just as easy to read no matter what style or font they're in.

I don't think you are. You are entitled to your opinion as much as me or anybody else here.
I would not change my username either if I were
you. Why do you care so much about what people think of you?? I couldn't care less ( and it's always shown ) about what people think of me.
I'm not just some Lemming like so many others that has to fit in as acceptable and go along with what everyone else thinks or simply fall
into line.

Having trained a minimum of 130 pilots in two air forces and US General aviation over some 38 years I have learned that there are innumerable innovative "aspects" to learning and training that constantly reveal themselves to the open minded. Keeping young students interested and intrigued is the main goal.

PERSEUS1953, I sincerely apologize for being rude to you. I also apologize for being the reason why your thread turned into a pointless discussion filled with witty wiseass posts. Posts like the one just above me, which in any other forum would be considered SPAM.

@mortoma: I'm sorry, but I think netiquette shouldnt necessarily be followed, but it should be common knowledge, especially when you join a public forum. Here are a few links which may be of interest to people curious about my apparent rudeness:
