Hi guys,

Got a question...

I really dig flying the A-20G and B-25J in the anti-shipping role, but I'm curious to know if anyone has sank soft targets, specifically freighters and cargo ships in-game with a guns only attack?

Gun camera footage of shredded cargo ships dance in my head ;-)

Thanks!

No, damage models are not complex enough to accurately portray the effects of MG/cannon fire. Some of the newer ships have more complex damage models that allow for destruction of AA mounts, but generally the ships require a certain amount of HE to bring about damage or sinking.

Yes, I've found that in order to send shipping to the bottom you need to hit it with a torp or skipping a 500 pounder into the side of the hull.

I've sank corgo ships with the Corsair firing the AP missiles. Takes about 4 rockets I believe.
