Just wondering if anyone had a decrease in performance after the patch. Seems like everyone is talking about an increase while mine went down slightly.

All test conditions the same, fps taken with FRAPs.

Max: 53
Avg: 38.478

Test 2)

Frames: 3333

I initially had a decrease in FPS, but then I did two things.

I remembered a process recommended by Hunter at least a year ago regarding new drivers (and maybe patches too) where in Setup you set the video to Default, load up the game and fly a few seconds, get out of game, set the video to Ati, start up the game and fly a few seconds, then close out and set the video to Custom (I'm trying anisotropic right now rather than bilinear/trilinear, etc.).

But I also used a reg cleaner recommended by udidtoo (RegSupreme Pro?) in another post, cleaned out almost 700 reg keys, and things are fast and smooth in Perfect with my old dog of a 9700 non-pro and P 2.4.

I did pick up a little sutter but it irons itself out after about twenty seconds and then its gone. I've had this problems in other versions of the game all the way back to the original and multiple computers and I have no idea what causes it. I deal with until the next patch which usually makes it disapear.

Sadly, yes, I have seen a performance decrease with the patch.

Just before patching I ran the Black Death track as a reference;

Frames: 4976 - Time: 153154ms - Avg: 32.490 - Min: 10 - Max: 69

I then installed the patch and re-ran BD without changing anything;

Frames: 4372 - Time: 153013ms - Avg: 28.572 - Min: 8 - Max: 56

i.e., I lost 4 FPS http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif

I then started up il2setup and chose Default. Played with QMB briefly (lol, a completely black world with only clouds, very surreal).
Then I chose the GeForce 6800 setting (I have a BFG 6800GT with 67.02 drivers)

Frames: 4408 - Time: 152803ms - Avg: 28.847 - Min: 8 - Max: 56

i.e., no real improvment.

Lastly I tried the il2_new exe and got;

Frames: 4545 - Time: 151637ms - Avg: 29.972 - Min: 7 - Max: 59

i.e., I've lost about 2.5 FPS http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Yes the screen door is gone, it loads fast, nice splashes, but.....

Noticable performance increase for me, runs a lot smoother overall.

ATI X800 Pro with Catalyst 4.12 Beta drivers, AMD64 3700+, 1 Gig PC3200 RAM and Audigy2.

I recorded a track (defending Pearl Harbour)and checked frame rates - with these results:

Pre-patch: avr 21 max 31 min 9

Post-patch (old exe): avr 21 max 30 min 9

Post-patch (new exe): avr 21 max 31 min 7

As you can see, no real difference between them although with the "new exe" I encountered "mini/micro stutters".

It ran smoothly with the post-patch ("old exe") however.

I have a P4 2,2 Ghz PC with 1022 MB RAM and a Nvidia GeForce FX 5900 XT graphics card.
