For those who haven't seen the announcement in the mission builder forum or at SimHQ, I wanted to announce my first campaign for Il2 Sturmovik 1946, These Foolish things, now released at M4T (http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&file=details&id=2531).

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/griffnav/TFTScreens/TFT%20Title%20Image.jpg

It is an alternative history campaign for the offline single player in a Hawker Tempest V, inspired by the short paragraph in the v4.07 readme that ends the Western Allies European war effort in the 1946 timeline;

"July 29, 1944
Churchill and Goerdeler sign a Peace Pact.
Germany begins to move all units to the Eastern Front.
US and Great Britain begin a colossal operation of moving all European Forces to the Pacific."

It features the adventures of the Hawker Tempest MkV's of 501 Squadron RAF, who with their V1 hunting experience, are called to the Far East to meet the threat of the Kamikaze rocket planes, the fearsome Okha, which are causing the Commonwealth forces battling for control of Sumatra, and preparing for the invasion of Singapore, no end of trouble.

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/griffnav/TFTScreens/FirstShot.jpg

It is a chance to check out how the Tempest fares against the whole range of late war IJN and IJA machinery, and was built on a fairly low-spec machine, so it should run well for players with older equipment.

Although it is obviously not historical, I have tried to get the possible historical details as close as possible, and a large part of that is thanks to the efforts of Jadehawk, who very kindly made some lovely Pacific theatre skins for the Tempest.

Both an invasion of Sumatra, and an airborne assault on Singapore, were in the planning stage when the atomic bombs ended the war against Japan.

For more information, please see the post at the mission building forum (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/50910533/m/8401003165)., or the campaign readme.

With thanks to Jadehawk, Kristorf, Zeus-Cat, AirTramp and IceFire and all on the various mission builder forums. It's been a pleasure to try to do something, however small, for the community.

I hope you have as much fun flying it as I had building it.

Cheers, Stathem.

An interesting idea. Looks like a worthy effort, and I'll fly it as soon as I finnish my own 1947 redstar/white star cmp which features the Tempests of FEAF. This plane lends itself well to alternate history cmpns.

Cheers, hope you enjoy it.

I'm going to be making a minor update tonight or tomorrow to take it to V1.1, to fix an issue with the epilouge track based on a really helpful review/critique from IceFire, I don't know if you want to hold off till then.
