From a business point of view, it doesn't make sense for Ubi not to translate it. This isn't a really language heavy game anyway.

Its not like an RPG. There are probably only around a hundred lines of dialogue in the entire game.

Considering the strength of the PC market in Europe, Ubi is making a huge mistake by not localizing their products fully.

If there was only one language, why do you suggest it would be English? These were German boats that are being simulated, and from what I can gather, this game is being made in Romania for a French distributor. If it was in one language only, it would be German because that's what most people expect to hear coming out of a U-Boat crew's mouths, and it's the language I expect to see when I read a German log book or labels on German instruments. I'm English, but the last language I'll expect to see in a game about German U-Boats made by Romanians for a French company is English.

Not that I care. If it was in Romanian I would still play it, because it's going to be the best sub sim ever. I would still play it if it was in Aramaic or ancient Sumerian.

Even a subtitled version would be nice. And not so difficult to do. I remember that NOLF vame in about four idioms or so, while NOLF 2 was dubbed in a bunch of idioms.

What about pirate versions translated into every idiom, just like the russian version of NOLF 2? :P

Is a risk that those companies must face.

I vote: must be multilanguage version ( like French, Spanich, Russian etc )
But like Beeryus if it was in one language only, it would be German because that's what most people expect to hear coming out of a U-Boat crew's mouths, and it's the language I expect to see when I read a German log book or labels on German instruments. I'm Catalan, but the last language I'll expect to see in a game about German U-Boats is Catalan. In the matter of fact i play SHII in German.
If it was in English I would still play it, because it's going to be the best sub sim ever.
But!! the Spanish players must right to buy a product in their own language in his country, like the catalans have the same right too.

I agree, and in the same spirit, I want the game in Broad Yorkshire: "Put 't wood in 't oil n gerra bit o' watter owwer us eeads!" - or as the English might say: "secure all the hatches and make her depth 60 feet!" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

In this lesson is omited that Catalonia had previously recognized Philip V as king. You have to go to the previous one. So was just a rebel province. Is also omited that some cities maintained their fidelity to the king Philip V. This page reflects the oficial history from a very biased point of view: you cannot say something like "Catalonia was not interested in the war of succession, but was fighting to preserve its rights and liberties", is just ridiculous: they were fighting for the one who gave more to them, so they had an active interest. And some of those so called "liberties" were no more than privilegies.

Actually, Aragon held a parlament some decades before Catalonia. Btw, Catalonia began as a county under Carolingian Empire -they needed expendable people to avoid muslims to enter-, had some decades.

Yes, that would be GREAT!!( Unless Mr.Carod Rovira comes and forces the spanish government to forbid such translation )

Jose, if SH3 has a text file that can be edited, we both could do a mod to translate it to Valencian! "Tot el mon al aullia!! Eixiu inmediatament del submar√¬*!!!

I would really laugh my butt off if I see such texts while playing http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif ( For those who do not know, same as english is the language of the commerce, french of the diplomacy and german of teh science, Valencian is the best language for the jokes/wisecracks. Any joke told in valencian is guaranteed more funny than in spanish or catalan )

I didn't think it was. I was joking. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Actually I spent quite some time in Barcelona, so I know a bit more about Catalan than most people. Anyway, I think you might find that Catalan and Broad Yorkshire have more similarities than you might think. Both are officially ignored (Broad Yorkshire isn't even officially recognised), though academically recognised (at least by some scholars) separate languages; both represent a part of a country that is generally regarded with a humourous disdain by the people in the capital region. Broad Yorkshire derives from old Norse, while English comes from Anglo-Saxon.

I'm with you, Beeryus. I will buy the game. And I will not wait until June! It can be like Starcraft, that it was released in english, and after it was a blockbuster, it was translated into Spanish. Then, I bought it. Nice translation indeed. Now, im older and I can speak english with an interesting accuracy, and I also understand french (although I can't speak it, sorry), so I will buy it in English, German or whathever it will be, if it has the manual in English/Catalan/Spanish. Of course, any translation will be well recieved, but I do not like (i'm sorry) that the forum is being colapsed. Why don't you use the same discussion or do you send emails to all the people involved? I think that trying to play a blockade to the forum is a bit childish! I'm much sorry, but I feel ashamed. You're attacking lots of innocent users who only want to speak about SH3...

I will translate it into spanish:

Consideradlo!
