View Full Version : HELLO CARTRIX, YOU INCOGNITO?

Cartrix,

On behalf of the community here in your Forgotten Forgotten Battles forum, the Forgotten General Discussion, I'd like to extend our wishes that you are okay and that you reappear at some point to rectify your gradually diminishing reputation among this community.

You've done a lot for us "IL2-ers" since you came aboard. What's happened lately? Short of you being terminated from UBI, ill, or in a city that doesn't have electricity, I'm hard pressed to figure out what caused you to ditch the folks here.

I've heard you still frequent the LOMAC forums. Will you abandon them when that's released? Is it your choice or UBIs?

Bottom line, if there's a good reason why you've gone incognito, forgive me and I hope things allow you to come back soon.

If your absense is just a choice you've made, do you think we could get a new Community Manager to take your place, and if so, who would you suggest we speak to about this?

Regards,
Dex

What do you mean exactly?

All I know is my frustration has been increasing. Aside from a glaring bug with FB and Matrox cards, I'm also trying to get more out of FB, trying to start hosting a f/t dedicated FB server with script, and yet I'm still struggling with the reality that UBI is giving me the impression FB is a dead dog. So, I feel compelled to ask what the deal is... That's all.

Yah, and what's worse is that not a single nicely worded request, complaint, inquiry or whatever in this GD has gotten a single UBI response in a very long time.

RBJ, I'm a persistent guy by nature. I'll shut up when something changes here.

Well, serves you right for using that 3-headed monster card. Just stick to MSI or ASUS when it comes to buying video cards.

And Cartrix, he is just the leader of the mods, he isn't a programmer. You will never win by calling out the head mod in the forum. Even if you are right it's just tacky. Also, he can take up to 2 weeks to answer a PM.

And if FB is a dead dog (which it is) then go play a different game. Thats what I do. You'll never see me inside the "where's the patch?" threads. I am off doing the wookie berserker move on Star Wars Galaxies (a game that costs more to buy than FB and also costs a monthy fee). FB, they will get around to patching it at their leisure. FB is no classic, thats for sure. The slow trim and CFS3 like FM aren't exacty geared towards the advanced combat simmers.

I found this on the BBC website:

CIA: 'Cartrix' tape probably genuine

The voice urged Ubi to resist issuing patch

A recording of a man claiming to be the Il2 Community leader Cartrix is probably authentic, US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) officials have said.
But they warned that the poor quality of the recording prevented absolute certainty.

The speaker, who praised continued withholding of the FB patch, claimed that he was alive and well.

The tape was uploaded on 4 July to Sturmovik Technika, which said that the message was dated 14 June - six weeks after 1C President Oleg Maddox declared major patch development over.

"The CIA's assessment, after a technical analysis of the tape, is that it's most likely his voice," said CIA spokesman Bill Harlow on Monday.

Officials said the tape contained a great deal of background noise. They speculated that the speaker was located some distance from the microphone and the tape may have been used a number of times before.

"The exact date of the recording cannot be determined," Mr Harlow added. The CIA says that there were no references in the recording that would preclude the possibility that it was pre-recorded before 14 June.

Psychological effect

The BBC's Katty Kay in Washington says that the CIA are choosing their wording very carefully when they say that the best conclusion they can offer is that the recording is "most likely" genuine.

At the time the recording was aired the BBC's security correspondent Frank Gardner said the voice on the tape sounded like Cartrix.

But whether it was proven to be Cartrix or not, its psychological effects would harm the Community's mental stability, he said.

He said the tape's message was designed to rally those loyal to Il2, and convince the community that Cartrix would one day return.

The voice on the audio tape said : "I tell you that I miss you, miss you, o beloved people, even though I am among you and in your ranks."

He continued: "I call on you not to download patch betas and not to give the infidel community any information about it, its Flight Models or its whereabouts."

US and British troops have been the victims of increasing attacks from renegade Il2/FB players in recent weeks, with dozens dying since the major fighting for patch release began.

The US Department of Flight Simulation has announced a $25m reward for information leading to the capture of Cartrix and $15m for each of his sons Tully and Hunter.

Edited by Vengeanze. Removed a pic.

dex;
by reading your posts here and in acwos forum i come to the conclusion that you are totally obsessed with this "game". what is your problem? do you have a job? a wife? a family? do you think ubi or whoever is in control of the release of the "patch" is personally trying to ruin your life?
after reading your hate filled, garbage mouthed rants about your perceived "right" to have this "patch" fix all your problems, and make your life so much easier, you seem to think that since youve been playing this "game" for 2 or 3 years, youve got some kind of right to bad mouth the people who actually had the "job" of creating the "game".
your "ive been around a long time" attitude is very obvious to anyone who follows these discussions.
and i must say that this superior attitude is very obvious among the "old timers" with thousands of posts.

Alot of people talk about Cartrix like he wasn't here. I'm sure he is here, somehow, somewhere. and when the patch comes out he probably isn't going to be the one who announces it. It will probably just appear in the downloadable files section right next to the skin downloads or something. So there is no need to worry about Cartrix I'm sure everything is going along smothly, no need for hysteria. It's not like we pay a monthly fee for this game.

I can understand your problems! It is always frustrating to buy a fancy new piece of hardware and everything doesn't run as smoothly as one would like. As someone who likes to host dedicated servers myself, I know exactly what you mean when you refer to certain problems that exist in FB. I can't wait till the next patch, when hopefully the most important problems will have been solved.
