Get at least this title:

The Battle of Britain - Then and Now
author: Winston G. Ramsey (Ed.)
publisher: After the Battle
ISBN: 0-9009-13-19-9

Its essential reading...

Another title which is also good, but a little more dated when it comes to hard data:

Battle over Britain
author: Francis K. Mason
published: McWhirter Twins
ISBN: 0-901928-00-3

HOWEVER, the latter is out of print and relatively difficult to obtain (depending on what you want to spend).

The two titles will give you a day to day account of the Battle and good coverage from both sides. Claims, losses etc...

I've always liked this book:

The Narrow Margin, by Derek Wood with Derek Dempster. It's a bit old now (so old that my copy is falling to bits /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif ), first published in 1961, but I have the illustrated edition (1969).

Worth getting hold of if you can.
Cheers!

I started preparing by visiting Britain http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

bailOut and I had a business meeting in London, UK a couple of weeks ago. We didn't have a lot of free time but I managed to visit the Science museum (part of the Natural History and Science Museum) with bailOut and the two RAF museums at Hendon and Duxford by myself.

Also picked up a copy of First Light (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0141008148/qid=1067536595/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_3_1/026-3317275-6646016) (memoirs of one of the youngest RAF pilots in the BoB). Its a good read for anyone interested in the BoB.

some pictures (I shot these using my video camera so the resolution isn't very good):

I bought "History Channel" Battle of Britian game to practice, finished it in 2 days. Check it out, it's only $20.00, like Warbirds III.

For a really 'human' account of the battle, with moving accounts from individual British/Commonwealth/German pilots & British citizens, I really recommend "Eagle Day. The Battle of Britain." by Richard Collier. ISBN 0-460-04370-6. Might be difficult to get hold of. Bought my copy in a second-hand bookshop.

Sheer horror, heroism, pathos and humour.

"Fighter" by Len Deighton

Lot's of insight into the organization of the war by both sides. Not so much a fighter pilot account book but more the mechanisms of the battle itself.
