My new computer is arriving in about a week but first I must decide which speakers I want. I will with either get the Creative Inspire 5.1 5200 or the Creatice Inspire 6600 6.1. One has 6 speakers and the other has 5 speakers. I can get them both at very low prices ($96 and $124 Canadian). My room is quite small so loudness is never a problem. Is there a noticable difference with 6 speakers or is 5 speakers good enough? My new computer won't have a sound card. The motherboard (soltek golden flame) has a 6 channel integraded sound card. Does anyone recommend that I get a good sound card? This mobo has gotten many good reviews so I intend on getting good sound. All opinions and suggestions are welcome. Right now, my sound system is quite good (3-pc Monsoon system) but I want to be able to fly the P-39 and hear the engine realisticly.

I have the 5.1 and my friend has the 6.1. There isn't a big difference but the 6 speakers of the 6.1 are a little larger and the subwoofer is larger too. There is a built in headphone jack on the volume control on the 6.1 but not the 5.1, not a big problem. I don't know if it will work on that rig because I know nothing about computers really/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif .

If money is really not a factor, then maybe you should take advantage of your 6 channles and purchase speakers accordingly. After all, any sound hardware you buy in the future, whether on-board or not, will probably use at least 6 channels. Might as well have the 'better' speakers. (The 'better' is debatable.)

LOL, the sound if FB is flawed for the moment, especially in surround. It's supposed to be fixed in the upcoming patch. In the current patch with my 5.1 setup I can't even hear the engine of the P-39 inside the cockpit (from the looks of it I'm not the only 1), though outside it does sound great.

AMD Athlon XP 1700+ T-Bred B
Epox 8K9AI
PC2100 512MB DDR
GeForce 4 Ti4600 128MB
Game Theater XP w/ Sony MHC-BX6AV

I actually don't own FB yet. I'd like to hear the sound of the P-39 engine in the back with the original IL-2 (it's in one of the updates). The replies were good (so far) but does anyone know of the models I spoke about or my mobo (golden flame). Thank you for your time.
