Okay here is my situation. Im in the northen section of the British channel with my VIIb with all but 1 toppedo. I have set about 12,000 tons to the bottom on this patrol. Im also 3 days out. Here is were i need some advise. Im playing full real. Seas and weather are very calm. I have taken damage to my dive planes. They are a total lose and my hall is at 42%. there is a big convoy with escorts closing in on my position.

the effect of the dive plane not working is that diving and surfacing takes along time. should i try to make it back to base or engage the convey from far range with a spread and pray.

I have had a couple of very successful patrols so I dont want to get shaked. What should I do?

Well you will most likely be attacking at periscope depth right? You could always try your luck at a couple of long range shots, and if you are detected you should have enough time to let your sub sink down further to escape. Just keep an eye on your compressed air.

Your hull is compromised and your ability to manuver is seriously handicapped: at this point do you believe your vessel to be operational? I would withdraw.

One more decent hit and you'll be on the bottom of the Channel looking at the convoy as its passing by you laughing.

return home. Only take ships once you are out of the channel.

no way take a shot! being a convoy chances are high that youll hit from 1000 - 3000 metres, and, really, before the torp hits and the destroyers wise up, youll be looong gone - go for it!
