Tell me..that is NOT an actual in game made movie??? If so, that is incredible!

Is BoB still being released early May? How does it compare to IL2's FMs, damage modeling, graphics...???

Also, since this is BoB are there any Italians planes in the air? Or, is it like so many other WWII games produced that want players to believe the Italians never fought in WWII?

thx

To my knowledge, it is not from future Oleg's game BoB http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif. I don't know the origin of the video.

About game BoB, there are some rumours that the game will actually be released by end of this year; how realistic is that that remains to be seen.

For sure there must be Italian planes in BoB, they are participated in noticeable number there.(fighter and bomber squadrons). Should be in game BoB as well.

I'm pretty sure those 109s are Spanish Buchon types. I may be wrong, but I think that footage is edited together from the mini-series Piece of Cake. I havent seen it for years but I remember seeing shots like that in the show.

Very nice either way. Thanks for posting!

Thats one of the films they use in a full motion 'simulator' at air shows. I saw that exact film with my son a few weeks ago at Duxford. It would have been better in a single cockpit mockup rather than with 8 other people sitting 3 abreast.

It was still good fun though.

I was in the same simulator a couple of weeks ago. The 'propwash' shook all the change out my pockets http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I think it's computer generated animation just like the AMAZING movie clips on this site.

http://www.angel.ne.jp/~tochy/

Look at the film 1945 and then the others. Can you tell which if any are real life footage?
I Think they are all CG, but you wouldn't know.
This is the shape of things to come and I wouldn't be at all suprised if Maddox BoB comes close to this!
I for one CAN wait if it can get this good!!
(Watch the clip all the way through, it gets better re: flight model)

Maybe it is just the simpliest solution.

They got a part from the old BOB Movie...

They used the same planes. Why should someone do so much work to get a movie with wrong planes???

If they would made an animation, why not take an Emil and a SpitI? And noone of the planes crashes... do you see any parts flying away after "hits"? I don´t see any tracers too! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Maybe the cheapest way to get a realitic movie!

Spot on guys!! Definately the footage from the sim I sat in at Duxford a couple of weeks ago too.
My lad loved it. Also, the whole Duxford experience has got him hooked. Another recruit into the fold!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

Of course the Italians fought in WW2...it's just they did very little in the BoB..one operation as far as I recall, sending BR20 bombers escorted by CR42's over the channel towards the Thames estuary/Harwich. Three RAF squadrons were sent to intercept.

One of the three RAF squadrons saw them first.

The radio comms went like this...

Sqn#1 : "Wops ahead"
Sqn#2 : "Where are they?"
Sqn#1 : "Shan't tell, we're only outnumbered 3 to 1"

The Italians were mauled, losing 9 for no loss to the Hurricanes.

They didn't mount any more raids after that.

For absolute historical accuracy I'd include the Italian planes that took part, but wouldn't make too big a deal about it as all they did, I've just described. However, Mediterranean Theatre..different matter altogether.

The tactics...

109s deliberately fighting at sea level vs Spits? And after a long channel crossing at cruise altitude? Wtf.

Ref tactics; I lived in Germany for 5 years, used to sit in the local village for drinks etc.
Used to talk to a couple of old soldiers, (Waffen SS & Fallschirmjaeger, + an old Luftwaffe veteran). The latter told me stories about coming across the channel at wave top height, (evade radar maybe), scoot up over the cliffs and howl inland to shoot up airfields & then hightail back to France again. I had no reason to disbelieve him or the tactics involved!!

development screenshots laready showed at least FIAT Br.20s and Cr.42 as WIP for BoB. so, the RegiaAeronautica will be a part of the BoB game

This clip was from Weapons at War series (IIRC) comparing Spit v 109. Earlier they had done comparisons or armament (.303 v 20mm).

Expect BoB in 2006 I'd think. Yes there will be Italian planes in BoB. Even tho they participated in a single operation there are Italian fighters and bombers that are apparently in. Probably some flyable. Which is cool.

Apparently they were badly mauled by the RAF however...so it probably won't be a good fight. I'd expect the Hurricane and Spitfire to be a dangerous pair.

I believe it stands for "Without Papers" Referring to Italian Immigrants to the USA disembarking the ships with no identification, papers etc. WOP then became slang for Italian, like Spiks for Hispanics, Limeys for British, etc.

The Italians did more than one operation. They actually did shoot down a couple of Hurricanes, forget the number.

PS-What kind of a n00b was that wingman!!! Bl00dy hell, the Spitparks right in front of him and he does bugger all?! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/354.gif

Bushranger, the first thing any Nazi does when a Spit pops up in front of him is spend a few moments admiring it, in this case that was sufficient for our dashing hero to despatch the dastardly hun leader. I was getting a little worried when the Jerries got the Spit and then went home, but I should've known they'd be a happy ending.

Nice vid, was it cutting room floor footage fom the Battle of Britain film? They look like Buchons for sure but I don't remeber that sequence from the film. This link (www.planestv.com/ planestv/me109.html) leads to a picture of a Buchon in the same livery as the 'leader,' the one on the extreme right of the sequence, could be contemporary.

Although you could click on this (http://www.helifilms.homestead.com/ridefilms.html) link for a shot of the 'leader' Buchon on the ground, it's halfway down the page.

Hello,

If this is part of the game then i must notice that the BF-109 is of the bad type it is a F or G BF-109? In 1940 impossible. Look at the wings and tail! It is possible that it is from tha game but not the period depicted.
Never the less this video is fantastic. Thanks.
