Actually that happened to me IRL as I was flying in the Krueger park in South Africa. I took off in a Cessna Caravan and just as we took off a giraffe ran out and crosses the runway. We missed it by cm but it was very very close!!!

A friend of mined clipped one tho, he went down but survived, the giraffe didnt. I had to check the reg of that plane to make sure that pic wasnt from that accident.
We did however cut an impala to pieces tho with our prop once. We had just landed and and it came from nowehere and ran just infront of us and woulnt leave the runway, our speed was still too high to stop and the poor ******* ended up in our prop. Our passengers had mixed feeling about it but there was nothing we could do, exept clean the plane afterwards... Lots of blood along the fuselage...

Some of the more rural airports in the U.S. have deer and moose issues.

Well next time we`ll make sure the giraffe learns the Air traffic control procedeures first.

Not to mention, how to read, how to understand what an aircraft is and how to duck.

It can`t possibly be mankind`s fault in assuming the earth is his playground, can it?

Trident Aviation in Africa had a propstrike incident when the DHC5 buffalo was offloading food for the U.N World Food Program. The engines (General Electric CT-64-820-4) were at idle while the food was being offloaded. Some local villager decided it was a good idea to attempt to steal a bag of grain. Upon seizing a bag of grain, he immediately started running to the front section of the aircraft directly in the path of the left propeller. Needless to say the bag of grain was recovered.

I worked for the engine overhaul facility (DAC Aviation) when the engine and SDG (Speed Decreaser Gearbox) came in for inspection after the incident.

ok, the giraffe had an excuse. But that man with the grain now he had no excuse. Very stupid.

stealing is an extreme measure, running into a prop because you can't plan your exit or look ahead of you, that's just dumb.

As someone quoted before:

"Running through a prop is a crappy way to end your day..."

Exactly. Stealing food is one thing, not looking where you`re going is another.

Doesn't look like it - it has a VS registration, and the soil looks like coastal or semi-arid region, not like the stuff up there. Coz I haven't been everywhere up there, so might be if the a/c is an import

Actually this could be Botswana....

They allow bow and shotgun hunting at various times on Little Rock AFB, iirc. Had some problems with deer on the runway, leading to electric fences and whatnot to try and keep them out.

One C-130 in particular had been named "DeerKiller" due to the fact that it's had 3+ deer strikes over the years. Perhaps we should just remove the antlers?
