First in order to play online you should get yourself a hyperlobby. http://hyperfighter.sk/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=2 (http://hyperfighter.sk/modules.php?name=Downloads&amp;d_op=viewdownload&amp;cid=2 )

Be sure to register there in order to be able to use the software (it is simple you need to provide your e-mail and username you like). Hyperlobby is free.

You should patch your game to the newest, 4.01 version. Otherwise I presume that you will be unable to play online since they all have up-to-date versions of the game on server.

Patch download
http://www.pacific-fighters.com/en/updates.php

You need to download and install patch
3.03(m) 100MB
4.01(m) 141MB

If you have merged installation (FB+AEP+PF) use patches marked with "m" (3.03m, 4.01m), for standalone Pacific Fighters without "m" (3.03, 4.01). </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Also be sure to select the right game once you are in Hyperlobby main screen.
For merged installation FB+AEP+PF select Forgotten Battles, for Pacific Fighters stand alone select Pacific Fighters.

You need to have some game lobby software installed to help you find games. The 3 commonly used by the community are:

Ubi.com (comes with the game)
Hyperlobby (http://hyperfighter.sk/) (mentioned above)
AllSeeingEye (http://gamesdomain.yahoo.com/ase/register)

Hyperlobby is generally considered the most popular but AllSeeingEye shows most games hosted at both Ubi and at Hyperlobby.

Once you've installed the client software for one of the game lobbies, you'll need to log in. Make sure you choose a player name other than the default when you register/login to the lobbies as a lot of servers will kick you for having the default player name.

Each of the above lobbies includes documentation with the download or on the website explaining how to use it. I find Hyperlobby easiest.

After logging in to one of these lobbies you'll find yourself present with a list of rooms where games are listed. Choose the one appropriate to your game installation. Note that at Hyperlobby merged versions of Pacific Fighters are found in the Forgotten Battles room.

As Atomic_Marten pointed out, in general you'll need the game to be patched up to date in order to join online games. While there are occasional servers appearing for earlier versions, they're very rare. There's a post stickied at the top of the forum with correct patch order for the latest standalone and merged versions of Pacific Fighters.
