I am currently flying the P-47D-27, the one I had since Pacific Fighters, I was wondering, why is teh P-47D, that comes after teh D-27, have the simple name P-47D?

Does the P-47D have the 150 octane? What is better?

Whats the difference? Thanks.

As I understand it Oleg programmed the P-47D to be a D model with near P-47M like performance. So I believe its meant to sort of be a field modification with 150 octane fuel and other modifications. Field modifications of P-47s for added performance I believe was semi-standard practice.

I always remember the debates years ago and some stories about what ground crews were able to get out of a particular P-47D-5 model. These were the tuners of old and they didn't have to add big fancy spoilers http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

yes, but the spoilers look cool.

I've heard from others the P-47D represents a P-47D-27 with the 150 octane gas.

With out being too critical, its still in many ways a 1944 version. I don't think it was meant to represent the P-47M, although late D models (1945) were remarkebly similar.

Flying either plane, there is little difference in speed or climb, however in the zoom climb, the P-47D will get a bit more height out of it.

Needless to say, the model fits well into the sim with out being too fast for other planes to compete with.

I'd still say there is a need/want for a P-47n, but how well it fits into the current slot of planes i'm not sure. The P-47D appears to fill that roll just fine, like i say, with out being too fast for other planes to compete with.

The P47D Late is a better plane than the D27. It will beat any plane in game above 8km except the TA. The TA is just a phenom at 9km+. This is the only plane I can think of that has no weakness(except roll) against the D Late. I guess that is the plane we would need the P47 N for!

A true P-47M or a P-47N would beat the pants off the Ta-152 at 10km.

I forget who quoted it or where it was from, but rumor was that in one squadron they got their top speed up to above 470 or 480 mph.. Dunno if thats true but that would be pretty insane.

Hey guys. I have a question for you.

What was the average price of the P-47D-22 throught the war? Please let it be expensive. I love expensive planes.

Less expensive than a P-38 but much more expensive than a P-51
P-47 average unit cost by year:
1941 - $113, 246
1942 - $105, 594
1943 - $104, 258
1944 - $ 85, 578
1945 - $ 83, 001

in game?

that can't be stock.

The actual M model topped out around 470-480 in combat condition. I'm sure it might've gone faster with less fuel.

The P-47D was no slouch either. My sig acutally quotes a test flight with the new paddle prop.

As for the D-22, its my favorite looking plane in the game.
