what do you think

Yes they would ruin it.
And when you think on it a blade is better it's much more personal

We just spent the entire time walking around with a crossbow, a hidden gun, and throwing knives.

Ranged weaponry do not ruin assassins creed.

Even if you played as desmond you'd still want to use throwing knives, a crossbow and your hidden blade because they are silent.

The idea in the movies that a silencer makes guns instantly quiet is false. It reduces the noise down from ear deafening but you can still hear it, and guards would still be alerted by it.

Also, how much you use your guns would depend on how much ammo you have. As long they keep it to say a 9mm with limited ammo that can alert guards it should not be a problem. Also guards can be armed with other things than guns, such as pepper spray, tasers etc.

Also the use of stealth would be increased with guns to ensure you get a drop on a guard which might work well.

We already use a gun and it doesn't ruin it at all. It's not a major feature so it's fine.

11-24-2010, 04:43 PM
Well, think about it. Modern day assassins and hitmen most likely use sniper rifles, correct? Guns would work in AC, if done properly.

11-24-2010, 04:45 PM
That would just increase the amount of stealth in it, so no it wouldn't if ubi played their cards right with it.

11-24-2010, 05:05 PM
I think it would ruin it, but then again it depends how they are used and what era. If you are talking about Napoleans time, then you are talkin about guns that a rediculous amount of time to load, shoot and can be very inaccurate. So that might not be so bad. But bring in semi-automatic weapons and it would just ruin the game. I don't want a shoot'em up game with this. In this series I rarely used the gun, crossbow or throwing knives. You just didn't need them. It only mad for a few neat kills and that's when you were in face-to-face combat and it took time to aim.

MAYBE. Ubi could make this work but i hope that they are not common or overpowered. I want to stick with my hidden blade.

it seems to me like you could just use silenced weapons, as well as throwing knives and the wrist blade while remaining silent. A silenced sniper rifle would be pretty sweet to use at a distance from your target. i think pepper spray and batons would be kind of cheesy, because a notorious organization like the templars would not use such dumb weapons.

Anyone play hitman blood money. That uses guns but you can easily plan out how to kill someone stealthily.

11-24-2010, 08:06 PM
Yes, they would ruin the game.

11-24-2010, 08:31 PM
If I recall correctly, none of Abstergo's nameless, faceless men (*cough* gaurds *cough*) are being trained in modern-day firearms. And Desmond has used a Hidden Blade so far, I don't see him straying too far.

go watch a action flick. like say ninja assassin

yeah...guns aren't gunna ruin the series haha. it also helps that desmond is meant to be superhuman like his ancestors hehe

oh yeah http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/halo.gif

We already have guns in AC2 and AC Brotherhood. And in ACB you can really shoot your way through your enemies. 10 Bullets loaded, instant aim. So: If guns would ruin ACB they already have ruined it. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

I still hope that we will have nothing more than the Hidden Blade in the future ACs ... especially if you only play Desmond.

modern day assassins creed right there
