Hey ho can any experts out there tell me if the J8A is a Gloster Gladiator, and if it is why is it's instruments in german? And why is there nothing about it in the objects.. ? (I didnt find it anyway)... and.. if it is does anyone have a 'site' for the POH!
Of all my sims I think IL2 etc version mumble has the best eye candy and I know there's a war on, but I'd really swap a few (all?) of the more esoteric planes and even the 87th version of the Bf109xyz42 for a few more 'old' classics for some 'fun' flying and training.. even the chance to practice some cross wind landings! See the odd windsock and all..
The perfect sim has yet to be written.. keep at it you guys ..

It's the same basic aircraft with a few differences like instrumentation.

Same airframe, powerplant, performance, silhouette...

Thanks guys,
Very interesting link that beaufort..
Amazing how any of them 'died' as a result of crashing.. nearly as many as I've burnt trying to learn to land

Best method I've found is to use those big old landing flaps to cut airspeed way down - and always look to making a three-point touch down at no higher than 80 mph. It's also glides well with a dead engine, so I often chop at around 500 feet and coast it down. The extra lift from the extra wing is really useful, but is also deadly in combination with too much speed and a bounce. In that situation I would always try for a go around (as long as the engine is running).

It lands as slowly as it ascends, that's the key. Oh, and avoid frozen lakes! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Ye olde threadz being given a new lease of life. If it hadn't been for the forums being down, this thread would never have gotten further than it did. Resurrection rulezz.

I believe the RAF/RN Gladiator Mk IIs had superior performance to the J8A.

the FAF had its own Gladiators Mk.II

the J8A were used by the swedish volunteer F 19 during the finnish-soviet winterwar to support the finns .

IIRC we have the J8A "variant" of the Gladiator as flyable in game because its developer (3.party) is itself a swede http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif - understandable reason, isnt it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Imho J8A has allways been greatly undermodelled plane in the game. It's perfomance is more like Gladiator MK 1, when it should be Gladiator MK2 with Mercury VIII A engine (840 hp). Maybe Oleg mixxed up J8 (Gladiator MK1) and J8A (Mk2) http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blush.gif ..
