I recommend that you try out the Med which you probably haven't seen in your IXB career. Beware of a steeply rising technology curve as soon as you start, and dive or stay down after any sinking for a while because of increased likelihood of aircraft coming to investigate.
For trips to and from the Eastern basin, use the Messina Strait as long as Italy remains an Ally - saves you almost 1000km detour round Sicily. But once Italy falls and you are based at Toulon, the Messina Strait is of course no longer an option as it will be in enemy hands.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

What mod are you running? If it's GW then it don't matter where you start as there will be oodles of convoys, task forces, and singles everywhere.

Try the med, and with the purdy light blue color of the water you'll damn near want to jump in and go for a swim. It really is pretty though. You'll more likley find more interesting targets there too.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

If the Med is too quiet for you, how did you find the long trips to Freetown and the US East Coast in the IXB?

And I've read your "Raidin' the port" reviews with great interest, but I thought these were single missions since you played your normal career in the Atlantic with the IXB (historically no IXB in the Med).<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Club Med has my vote. You get all you can handle -- perhaps you don't see 20 mile long convoys but the shallow depths, fast convoys, strong air defense make it all so sweet....<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
