Hi

Have a Saitek Cyborg Jostick.
It's calibrated ok'but my left wing always dips.
I find trimming really hard to get right.

Just wondering why it dips in the first place?

Thanx

Newtonian physics...foe every action there is an equal & opposite reaction...in other words the counter to the spinning prop.

A couple of reasons:

First, it depends on what plane you're flying and which way the prop rotates. The plane's naturally tendency is to yaw opposite the prop rotation, with the engine torque.

In an LA7 for example, the prop turns clockwise, so the plane has a tendency to yaw left. Easily corrected with 10-15 clicks of right rudder trim. The Yak3 is just the opposite, prop turns counter-clockwise and the plane tends to yaw right at speed. Again, 10-15 clicks of left rudder, CTRL LEFT ARROW, and that will help level you off in conjunction with elevator trim.

One thing that has changed since V1.1f is that certain planes have had in-the-air aileron trim removed. This can cause planes to bank left or right as well. I found a neat way around that by assigning a key to "Level Stabilizer" in the Controls section and upon reaching 300km/h or so, I hit it and it levels out all the trims, then I toggle it off again. Then, I can just use my rudder and elevator trim and the ailerons stay trimmed.

Some planes like BF109s do not have rudder trim, but I haven't tried the "Level Stabilizer" function with them yet.

HTH.

Hmmm, I just tried it with the BF-109K4 and "Level Stabilizer" trimmed out the rudder and ailerons as well.

This may be a bug.

I don't think the "Level Stabilizer" should be able to automatically trim, where manual trim in the air is not possible. Unless it's intended this way?/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Yes, it seems that the "Level Stabilizer" trims where there is no trim. I can only guess it's mean't behave that way. And this is a usable mode in a full real game also, is it not?

Yes, it's available in the Controls section. Just assign a key or button to it and WHAM! instant level flight for any plane. Including Ratas, 153's, P11s and 109s....etc.

You can put anything on a slider. I never leave home without it.

A cool idea just came to me: Ubisoft could start selling "Forgotten Battle Snacks" for satisfying hunger while playing - and the snacks would of course be "Wings with dip".
