Hi!

I just want to know your opinion about other flight sims and compared to IL2/FB in general.
I know that other flight sims (and I don't give a dime for MS CFS) are in modern times and are not the same things to compare, but I want to know about the community of them. I want to know whether they have so many people flying like we have in HL (really, is there another lobby like HL?).

And regarding playability, I want to know if these games are supposed to be so good like our IL2/FB is.

All these questions come from the expectation of "Lock-On" and I'm really eager to know if this is going to be something close to the general IL2/FB experience.

Thanks dudes

I think Lock On will be a good sim. It's the only one i'm waiting for.

I wonder if people will fly Lock-On with the proper tactics.

Nah, it'll be dogfight heaven. I might consider getting it if it's playable and everyone raves, just to have a look-see.

Online flightsim communities :- Falcon 4 is pretty big
FS2000/2002 is HUGE.

You can also fly FB online at UBI.com
These days there seems to be just as many servers available there as Hyper Lobby.

FS2004 is due out shorrtly and sounds good in the propaganda.

but MS flight sims tend to be a disappointment lately you need to pump em up with lots of shareware addons to get them up too scratch.

Every time I look at screenshots of 2004 I just think of CFS3. I can't get around that. Same as Lock-On, I am sticking with FB and not even thinking about getting new releases unless they receive some serious praise.

I think IL2 (FB) has a rather big lobby, too.

The initial release of IL2 was a BIG success on the market and there are many ppl out there, who never touched a flight-sim and tried IL2, because it's plain and simple.

FS-series-lobbies mainly consists of enthousiasts, who fly like virtual pilots with ATC and stuff, since this is the only thing, that makes sense in the internet. The flying itself can be done in all respects without the internet.
I think a big pro for a something like a lobby is the modability of FSxxxx, that alows to be new objects, areas and planes to be integrated into the game.

Falcon4 has a big lobby, too, just because it still is the master of modern FlightSims and it's still the number one in many respects (hopefully until LOMAC is out)
There are lot's of virtual squadrons (like HL-clans) out there, flying online wars with the excellent multiplayer-dynamic campaign. Tried this myself on a LAN once and it's really great.

IL2(FB) has a big lobby, too. It's rather simple, compared the other named sims and gives newbies a good chance for fast success. It just depends on your flying skills, not on how good you know to handle the radar and ECM. Even my Ego-Shooter-LAN-party-friends fly with me every now and then and it's just fun for them, too. (And they improved very quickly!!!)
That's one reason for sure, why there are so many online squadrons, and there are even High-Score-Lists, Online-Wars and stuff like that, that makes it even more interesting. Just look at this sites squadrons list, to check them out!

I'm really looking forward Lock On, i need something to replace my older no longer working games with something more of this time /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif The only game that I stll can get to work even on XP is Mig Alley, but Jane's IAF and F/18 Korea are just catching dust.

Il2/FB covers all that I need for the WW2 era, but I also like to have something modern.

Not sure how the community around Lock On will evolve tho, but I doubt it will be anything like here /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I don't fly jet sims in general, though I may give LOMAC a go for the A-10. I don't think there's much to compare the IL2 series to for out-of-the-box graphics and flight physics, but I suppose it could be argued that some others have better user interfaces. I don't think it's fair to compare to LOMAC as (apart from the beta testers) no-one really knows how it plays yet.

This is it for me...this sim has spo much to offer..it is almost endless in what you can do with it. If you dont want to fly you can set up a battle and watch the AI duke it out, or you could watch some tracks, or explore the FMB...it is endless. Sometimes I watch the same track from a different side to get the other view. With online recording it is iff the hook... nothing touches it or will for a while IMO..

Agree with Bearcat

Spent 4 hours last night in QMB, practising, pausing, review aim and just generally pushing the planes at much as I could.

Still amazed at the detail..

In the Foxhound's Kennel is...

Duron 1.2 Ghz, Win XP, 512MB PC133, , Ti4800SE,SB 5.1, Dx9.0a and a small fowl in a fruit tree of indeterminate origin.
