I found this superb online data tool, which you might want to bookmark for future reference:

Losses of German U-Boats 1939 - 1945 (http://212.112.241.171/submarines/)

As you click on the year links on the left, it's interesting to see not only the increasing losses, but also the spread of hunting/killing zones around the Atlantic. Nothing we didn't know before - just interesting to see the information visualised in an interactive medium.

There's also a Search function you can use to display different types of results, using the information stored for each sunken U-boat (the data is taken from uboat.net). For example, try searching for the words 'lost' or 'dead' to get a striking visual representation of the Ubootwaffe's losses for the whole of WW2.

VG,
Really neat tool. I might have seen it somewhere before, but lost it in the passage of time. I have bookmarked it now. I noticed that if you click on the individual markings of the loss, it gives you specifics of the sunken U-Boat. Excellent. Thanks for sharing.
