Thanks to the many whom contibuted knowlege, ideas and engenuity which Ive obtained from this forum over the yrs. Im able to build from simple materials my version of the spit control column with updated UDPspeed device link gauges.
By no means is it meant to replicate, but made to suit my own desire for personal enjoyment and entertainment from this wonderful sim. Thou I love the spit ,I also like flying the other a/c. I thought Id share some ideas.
Flying full settings is where its at. ~S~

Yes. Every gauge works, Hopefully SOW will even be better. The oxygen gauges are linked to the alt. and fuel gauges. eg if the plane reaches say 12ooo ft the gauges kick in with the depleating oxygen as fuel gets lower.

Thrud, lol...

Brilliant! I've not seen this before - simulating analogue gauges by mounting a panel over a monitor. Very clever method.

Excellent work !

question - I am also using device link gauges, but the newer high res gauges have such lag and are so jerky they are unusable.

the older , original low res gauges work fine though - which are you using ? and how are they performing?

Thanks Guys,I just wanted to share something.
I mostly fly offline the brilliant missions the people on this forum produce. I do the odd time fly online via lan with my brother and a couple of friends.I definitly like flying with the device link gauges, where as you probably know it not for online simming.
The brake gauge I put in to complete the look, pressure linked to the on/off of the brakes when applied. Funny thing is this sim is so wonderfully made that I actually got shot up one time and the brakes failed to respond as I lost fluids.

Bubba. Im using the lower res. gauges with upgrade personal spit face plates. your right they do work a little bit smoother ( mind you just a little bit )I would love one day to replace with real ones eg. simkit

Credit should go to DDastardlySID for his excellent gauges.

LOL http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I should also mention, notice in one of the construction pictures the little funnel piece that sits on top of the joystick shaft. I got that brilliant idea from this forum, I sorry to say that I can not find the post to thank them.
It was the piece that make the column work so well. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

As I have said before Spitfires ARE partially made of wood................. The curved wingtips are wooded framed and skinned in ally, same goes for the radiator Housings........

Also the Clive D'Cross full size prototype replica that was a flyer was a full size wooden spit.

Your cockpit is stunning http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'm also a home pit builder (if iterested see http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1150751413/0 ) and appreciating a lot the spitfire I've taken hispiration from its design.
Your control column is really perfect!!!!!!
If you had time, would give some indication of the material used and the dimensions?

Compliments again and thank you for the hispiring pics.

Boy you guys aren't making it easy.

I mentioned (in passing mind you) that it would be good to make up a cockpit. My wife told me I'ld have to extend the house and put on another two bed rooms and renovate the kitchen before I made one otherwise she'ld castrate me http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif
