I don't think so. The Mac version has been released officially. (Notice was posted at the French MystWorlds site, and will probably show up on other official sites before long.) I don't think the Win version will be released until after the showing at the Penny Arcade Expo next week, at the soonest.

It's shiny... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I need a better video card though... the stock one in the dual 2.3 GHz G5 just doesn't quite cut the mustard at 1920x1200.

what do you think, will it work well on my system?

3ghz
1gb ddr (pc400) ram
geforce fx 5200

i mean im playing right now Beyond good and evil (stunnning graphics) and in he lowest possible graphic settings it still wont work fluidly...

Well, right now it won't work at all, since it's a Mac-only demo for the time being http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.

I pulled pretty decent framerates out of it, though, and I was running the following:

- dual 2.3 GHz G5
- 1 GB DDR SDRAM (pc400)
- ATI Radeon 9600
- resolution: 1280x800 (un-stretched widescreen... sweeeeet... would have liked to run at native 1920x1200, but oh well http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif)
- anti-aliasing on low, anisotropic filtering off (never could tell the difference myself anyway http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif)

I'd say you should be able to run it fine, just don't crank the resolution up too high, and keep the anisotropic filtering low or off.. it's a real framerate killer. At any rate, you should run the game better than the PC I had could run Uru... it had the same video card but lacked in the RAM and processor departments, and all but Gahreesen ran pretty smoothly for me most of the time. So there you go http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

Not that much of what's in the demo hasn't already been seen, but I've been snapping some photos for those curious... you can find them here (http://www.dpwr.net/forums/index.php?act=module&module=gallery&cmd=user&user=2&op=view_album&album=30).

Nice snaps Al! So you get TWO ages in the demo? That's quite large.

I think I'll refrain from playing it even after the windows one is released.

Yes and no... neither of them are completely explorable.

So I figured.

Omg, my friend (mac fan) just casually strolled onto MSN and said to me "Hey Matt, I just plaeyd the Myst 5 demo..." hehe, and here I am one of the big Myst nerds and unable to play! Lol.

Pfft... he so doesn't understand the significance of Noloben http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif. Or like, anything. hehe.

He sounds like a perfect representative of the general market. So, the key question is: is he going to buy the game now that he's played the demo? Did the demo hook him or turn him off?

Yes, I was surprised he even knew about it. It's not like I harp on about it to my friends (gave up on that a long time ago http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif)

He said, he may buy it. The demo was really good according to him. Man, that'd be weird, knowing another physical person who actually plays Myst :P

Gee, you Mac people get EVERYTHING first!

Ha... kidding, of course. As a long-time Mac enthusiast, I was persuaded to "go to the dark side" only because I worked for a company that used Windows, and told us we could install our applications on our home PCs if we desired. All my colleagues did so, but of course I couldn't use the Windows versions of Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, etc. on my Mac. So that's when I switched, but I do still have my old faithful Mac (actually a PowerComputing clone) down on my workbench for the sake of nostalgia.

Only to say, I personally am thrilled that Myst V has included the Mac community, and am eagerly awaiting not only the demo for Windows, but the game itself.
