Hi everyone. Sorry if it's discussed before. I searched the forum but couldn't find anything about my problem. The game is 1946 and patched to v4.08m.

When I play a 1v1 quick mission (same plane with ai) it is impossible to catch him. Landing gears, flaps, engine, plane... Everything ok but it's impossible to catch him even my fuel load is lesser than ai's plane.

Before 1946, i was playing the original IL2 and there wasn't any problem like this.

Please help. I am a noob in this game but i really want to play it.

Of course J8A vs. Me-262 kinda stuff is out of question.
Just to be sure http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Sorry but i didn't understand what you exactly mean. I didn't do any rudder, roll or elevator trim. All settings are natural.

Planes are BF109G-6 Late 1943. Settings are custom but only complex engine man. and no icons are closed.

When chasing the AI...
- Get higher than it... it doesn't like this and turns back.
- Get to approx same height and turn 90Deg.. BOY! do they get miffed at this and turn back for a fight. It'll come in at speed so you go into a shallow dive and match his speed when you start avoiding it.

Generally let it run... It'll come back like a boomerang.. Ah!!! There you go They have Aussies flying the AI http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Well, in the 109 there is only elevator trim but if your turn/slip indicator doesn't have the bubble centered then you are probably bleeding 5-10 knots of speed by not flying efficiently. Also, when chasing the AI don't be anxious to point the nose at them as you will bleed off too much energy. Keep a positive climb (watch your VSI) but let the airspeed stay up. The AI won't ever overheat, but more importantly he will fly the aircraft in a cruise config perfectly. Most humans don't even come close so you lose out.

Freddie is also right in that turning 90s will lure them in.

Three various types of Bf-109's on ace level, F4, G6LATE and K4.
You'll notice that Ai doesn't stand slightest chance vs. you if we are talking 1 v 1 fight on SAME planes... they can manage their crates Godlike they'll still lose. I'll outmanouver them, out E them, outshot them and finally kill them http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Player always have one more winning card...

You may want to check out some tracks vs. Ai in my FW-190D sig too... they are vs. multiple Ai boogies which can at time be quite hard, they don't let you 'take your breath' http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Bf109s only have elevator trim. You'll want to use that to keep your plane properly trimmed and largely flat at whatever speed your flying at. This is one of those things that slows you down. There are many other techniques that give you far more speed or altitude advantage but many of them are somewhat hard to describe and largely rely on the feel of the pilot in question.

WWSensei and K_Freddie:

Thanks for the advices, i will try them as soon as possible.

DKoor:

Thanks for the tracks. I really appreciate man. I will watch them and share my opinions.

What I don't understand is i haven't got any problems like this in the IL2 v1.2. I'm new in 1946 and I can't catch my enemies.

IL2 v1.2 was a lot less sensitive to rudder trim being out of adjustment. Since about v4.01 rudder trim / using rudder to keep coordinated flight (slip indicator centered) has become vitally important for best speed and acceleration.

I could swear that K_Freddie was describing the behavior of a woman, not the AI !

He must be exhausted.
