Just a thought Spyder, have you thought of using Bit-torrent for the distribution of the file? It would ease the load on Gibbage's server I would think.

Here's the url with instructions on how to seed bit torrent:

No joy so far...

I get the feeling we're going to need Mirrors folks. Once you've got it, either upload it to your own webspace or get in touch with someone who's got an account you can upload it to.

My server is currently getting slammed. We are uploading to Netwings.org for a mirror. It should be done within a few minutes.

ok here is how to install the release canidate

it would be a good idea to make a back up of your forgotten battles folder before you install the RC patch incase you mess up the install then you have a copy of your game to refer to

1 unzip the RC01 and RC02 to a seperate folder on your C drive make sure you have use subfolders checked in winzip and it will then put all the files into there respective folders

2 ok now that you have unziped it to your C Drive open the folder that it unziped to you should see 3 folders and 6 files

3 copy the 6 files to your main il2 fb folder it'll ask you to over write say yes

4 now back to your il2 beda folder now open the missions folder and you'll see a folder called camapign open it now you see a folder called US copy that folder

5 now go to your IL2FB folder you'll see a missions folder open and then you'll see the campaign folder open that in there you'll see 4 folders now paste the US folder in there so that you have 5 folders

6 now back to your il2 beda folder and open the paimt schemes folder im there is a skins folder open that in there you'll see 4 folders select all and copy all the 4 folders

7 now back to your IL2FB folder you'll see the paint schemes folder open that and you'll see the skins folder open that and then paste the 4 folders you copied into there it'll ask you to overwrite 1 say yes

8 now back to your il2 beda folder and open the samples folder in that you'll see speech open that there you'll see a folder marked GB copy that

9 now go to your IL2FB folder you'll see a samples folder open that you'll see the speech folder open that in there you'll see some folders now paste the GB folder in there

now your done

this can be done from either 1.11 or the 1.2 beta and you will now have the 1.2 RC version installed

enjoy the 1.2 Release canidate

Like hundreds, yea thousands, of FB fans, I was sitting at the Netwings download site hitting "refresh" every couple of minutes in anticipation of the RC01/RC02 availability. When I saw RC01 appear, I jumped right on it and was rewarded with a respectable download of around 160kbps. As soon as the RC02 appeared, I jumped on it, but it looks like everybody and his brother was doing the same thing...lol...and it appears to be crashing the server. Good thing it isn't food in this FB hungry crowd or somebody'd get hurt. Be patient folks, we'll have it before the day is out. Oleg got several generous offers for ftp mirror sites already. Thanks to Gibbage and Spyder for their work.

Wow. I was probably one of if not the first to start the RC_02 download from netwings. Before they even posted the link, I just changed the url from the RC_01 file and started it. Initial rate was 238 kb/sec, and when it finally finished it was at 69.1 kb/sec and steadily dropping. I hope it doesn't get crashed soon. Good luck guys, and THANKS to those who are helping distribute this. S!

Had a few problems adding the RC02 to the library which is probably why you had a problem. I think it is up and working there now

Currently running 5.4 and 4.3 d/l rates from netwings. I don't mind the wait as long as it doesn't crash. What a crazy frenzy has been going on here lately.

Quick question, you're saying this is a "new" RC01. How new exactly?

Wouldn't it be a good idea if ONLY those people who CAN mirror these files downloaded it first?

Then, once the files are in several locations, the feeding frenzy can really begin.

Otherwise we have people sitting downloading at say 2kb for 8 hours and its just not helping anyone.

Good luck! I dont know if I will be able to get onto the server to update it! If you use exactly the same resource name and file name as the previous one is should automatically over write the old one. Its worth a try!

We are totally swamped - cannot get web pages up to review whats going on!

Yes No Doubt Looks Like Gibbages & Netwings is getting Hammered!!!!

People need to back up off this DL & Let people with FTP sights DL it first so they can host it as well, then the distribution will go much smoother....

Please comon users stop downloading until FTPs start posting this for us...

Low, you need to have the webserver's file associations setup to recognise torrent files...it's not something I can do.

just make it file.torrent.txt

we only need to remove txt and we have a torrent
