Oh wait, screens are numbered from 2 to 4, what happened to the 1st? There's not much to reveal as those already show everything, just had to nit-pick somthing. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

Another excellent cockpit. It looks fantastic in there...very good to see!

Which guns stick into the cockpit? Are those .50cal with .30cal on the wings?

I think so. They look so much like the P39's .50's that the devs must have used the same M2 model to build B's cockpit. (I may be wrong)

yes P-40B-C/Tomahawks had thier .50cal Brownings in the nose and their .30cal/.303 Brownings in the wings.

anyone knows how the Revi Sight of these birds worked, from where came the light ?

Yes, those are .50 cals sticking into the cockpit, and they are essentially the same as the .50 cal M2s mounted in the P-39, which was being built at the same time as the P-40 in the same country for the same Air Corps. Standard armament for the B/C was 2x.50 over the nose, and 4x.30 in the wings, heavy armament in the immediate post biplane era.

I like that they caught something the plastic modelers haven't always gotten right; there is no canopy framing at the front of the windshield, although it often looks that way, because the armorglass frames show through from inside. This is a much prettier pit than the P-47's.

cheers

Pretty pit indeed..... I like the view down the nose.

Anyone know how much ammunition the guns carried on this model?

The projector is on the floor between the rudder pedals. You can see it here:
http://www.pacific-fighters.com/ss/P-40B_2.jpg

What you're seeing is a field mod cockpit, as used by the AVG. You can't see this on the shots since they cut off too low, but the gunsight glass is hanging on the armored screens by these little hooks. It took us a while to figure out what this was exactly and why it was done, but finally the full info was relayed to us from an actual AVG veteran http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

And yes, the .50 cals are just stolen from the P-39. Shhh http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

P-40B is an absolutely great plane by the way. One of my favorites, it's very unjustly forgotten.

Thanks, Luthier. Extremely cool. I loved seeing the FAA Corsair, yesterday, too. Thanks so much. I can't wait.

Great looking cockpit for a great looking plane. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif I agree it is too often overlooked and I look forward to playing an AVG campaign.

Another question: Will we get both a "stock" P-40B along with this "AVG" P-40B?

PlaneEater: Hopefully we'll get an update featuring a project of yours that's a bit more...urm..."black". http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

Excellent job on the Hawk 81a cockpit, Luthier..

especially the AVG field modified sight.

I hear they had trouble getting replacement bulbs for those (like alot of other necessary equipment) so they never removed the external ring sights...

This plane was definitely one of the most unsung heroes of the war when compared to the other allied machines.

Unsure of the markings. Those look to be RAAF markings. FAA markings looked more like the US stars and bars. Unless there is something I'm missing http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I hope you'll find enough references. You look worried lately... BTW, the one we've seen should be pretty similar, shouldn't it? (Wednesday) http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Regarding the P-40B (and the AVG map/campaign to go with it), these are certainly what I am most looking forward to, big thanks to all involved who were able to get this shoehorned in (Plane-Eater, Luthier, Oleg etc http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif ). I think I've already been on official 'can't wait' status for quite some time, but this ups the greediness quotient quite a bit. Thanks guys.

Luthier thanks for the info, and another peek at the attention to detail.

Anybody else notice we're seeing a bit of the nose in all the new cockpit shots, even in the lowered seat views? I don't remember seeing cowling in the P-40E/M for example. I don't know if that's just due to the different cockpit geometry, or an increase in the attention to detail. Either way, it looks great!
